Team changes v Port

How about quitting the personal stuff and baiting and instead discuss actual opinions?

It was a bit of an attempted pun. You know McJesus, belief etc? Should have added a grin hey?

I never supported Dimmas stance on Morris. I'd personally rather Madonna. My argument is that people want Dimma to view Morris' stats, not his perceived"impact" as a reason to drop him from the side. However some of those same people don't want Dimma to look at McBeans stats and view his impact. The double standards shown are quite astounding.

What perceived impact did Morris have on the team against the pies ?

I am confused by some of the angst to be honest , especially on McBean. It sounds to me that some on here want the side to be picked on form unless that form doesn't justify picking their personal favourites

Vickery came in, played well and kicked 3, Griff's form has been pretty good all year although he has been wasteful at times. McBean comes in and gets 7 touches and doesn't bother the scoreboard. Although he looked ok with some promise there is no doubt that Griffiths and Vickery get picked before him on form.

I don't see why Morris is getting picked either but it isn't a choice between him and McBean. I would pick McDonough, Lloyd, Gordon or Lennon before Morris as all have had better form at either AFL level or have played well in the VFL.

Elton got dropped for team balance. We decided to go with Rance, Chaplin and grimes as the 3rd tall given that we could swing Griffiths to the back half if we get exposed there. I would have thought that Vickery, Griffiths, Riewoldt, Rance and Chaplin was enough tall kpps. On form should Elton play before Chaplin ? Not on last week's game.

People think the forward line functioned better with McBean as one of three talls, and I agree. I like both Vickery and Griffiths, but I don't think they complement each other as part of the same forward line.

I agree sting - I read the posts last night and couldn't be bothered to argue - I thought that bringing in both Edwards and Griffiths was logical given their form this year.

My personal view is that I think the team looks stronger given those changes.

Morris well he does divide opinion - each game he does a few things that I shake my head and wonder why he is in the team, but he equally does things each game where I shake my head and think - that was great, cant believe it was Morris.

Without knowing the data, I bet I could count on one hand the games where we've had:

Maric griffiths Vickery and Riewoldt play together

Based on form, suspensions, injury etc...

It may be more than 'one hand' but not by much.

it would be interesting to see the win/loss for that quartet.

Elton. No brainer. Out.
McBean. They would've had to discuss this at length. But hard to leave him in. I would've though because I want to win the game.

Since day one Dimma has valued character, leadership, and application of physical and mental pressure on the opposition.

These are traits anybody can perform.

In other words, you don't have to be talented to succeed in Dimma's system. This has it's pros and cons, but ultimately I like it because it forces the more talented types to actually defend and it rewards good character which inevitably improves the culture of the club in the long-term. I feel we've always had talented players but lacked leadership and all-round hardness. If Morris can force the current young players to match his intensity, then Dimma has succeeded in the long run by playing with 21 men each week.

Trouble is - Morris style and manner of play sends other messages to young players too.

The menadue retention is interesting but I guess the brains-trust feel he did enough with his opportunity last week

I think what they saw was his raw pace which leaves most of our foot soldiers for dead.
This guy glides over the turf. We need guys who can get to the loose ball first, especially against Port.

not too bothered by the outs, but i liked what McBean did last week. Titch in was a gimme. Griffiths must kick a few goals. putting Menadue in for pace a good idea against Port.

You don't get the angst but you'd have 4 players playing before Morris :hihi

I think they wanted some raw pace as the sub. If it's tight like last week and we need some fresh legs late in the game, then Menadue is something we haven't had for a while. I think McBean, Elton and McDonough are all a little stiff to miss out, but overall I like the structure of the side. The one elephant in the room is Morris.

Stingers summation was spot on could not have scripted it better. Love Beanie and his time is almost here. I suggest people go back and have a look at the replay and the piece of play about 2 minutes before half time. This is where Beanie has to get a bit better at. I will leave it as homework for someone to come back to me with the answer.
