Team changes v Port

Dropping Beanie for griff is dumb IMO, completely different players, the fact they are both tall isn't that relevant. TV and Griff fighting for same spot. As others have said, in my ideal future world, Beanie cements his spot, Ty and Griff vying for same spot, both play when Ivan out, then both in and either/ or one of them grow into the number 1 ruck role long term.

Griff in for Elton
Edwards in for Menadue

Would like both to get another game but...

Not necessarily what will happen, but I think will happen is. Edwards returns at the expense of Menadue (I liked what I saw of him, but needs to put on some more muscle), Griff for McBean (he also looks promising, but still needs muscle. He can't chop out in the ruck the way both Griff and Vickery can and Vickery did the job yesterday and should be rewarded for it). If Newman is fit he should play VFL (wishful thinking I know, they'll probably drop C. Ellis for him) and I'd like Morris to be dropped for anyone. At present I'd rather go in a man short than actually play Steve Morris, however there is also little to no chance of this happening.

I would like to see

Maric rested with Griff back, Vick and Griff sharing ruck 50/50 and other playing forward
Morris out McD in
Edwards for Men (as needs a full game)

All else leave as is...

As we know Dimma likes to drop the kids so obviously Menadue will go for Edwards but will it be Elton or McBean for Griff?

My guess is Elton.

Griffiths has to be played - needs as many games into him as possible. Edwards comes back if fit and McDonough has to be played as the small forward.

McBean has to be retained and the reality is that against Port, we don't need Elton down back.

So for me, it's Elton, Menadue and Morris out and Griffiths, Edwards and McDonough in.

I'd rotate three tall forwards through he forward 50 with either McBean or Griffiths to play a high half forward role and connect the back to forward transition.

McBean is stiff but a victim of circumstance really. Smart player, will get plenty of games in the future. But not as good as Griffiths right now and Vickery won't lose his spot nor should he.

Absolutly agree 100% they will be the changes.

It is alright for lean and mean Mcbean to go back to the VFL after a taste.

Elton needed against Port and Griff is not a backman. Astbury did not play in the VFL (Suspect injury) Conca needs another week although started to look pretty good.

If Elton stays injury free I expect him to be playing an excellent role by the time we play WCE.

First time i have seen Madonna all year, plays well, moves well but looks like he's carrying a couple of extra kegs, just doesn't look AFL fit to me.

Let Griff return in the twos. Only played a quarter the last three weeks.

Out: Batch Morris and Menadue

In Edwards Madonna and Conca

Titch in if fit. Out Menadue till a later date. Keep McBean as he appears he relishes a hard ball get. Lot of wraps for McDonut . Had a couple of gallops before in Group 1 & found wanting . Has he grown another leg ?.

Out: McBean, Menadue
In: Griffo, Titch

Nothing against McB and Menadue but the better players have to come in

That is all. The shortlist is complete.

Given its a Sunday game, we'll have three squad inclusions at least on Thursday.
All the early love is for edwards griffo and McDonough.
That's quite possible too.

agreed

but we all know morris won't be dropped

Definite Un

Edwards / Griffiths

Outs

McBean Menadue

gives us a chance to see for the first time how Griff and Vickery can work together

If they don't want to play McDonough maybe they could give Short a go. I quite liked what I saw of him in the VFL game.
