Tambling is a bit unlucky. The glass half empty types were desperate to find a scape goat this week when Tuck, McGuane, King, Gus, Vickery and Nason all played very well. Poor Richie was a last resort to vent their spleens on :p

Difference between all these players and Tambling atm? Desire!

And that Richie has been playing under duress / injured continually all season...
His legs issue was quite serious I'm led to believe.

So the rumour goes. Which begs the question, why is he playing in the 1s then? Surely the 2s would be a better place to nurture his recovery without the immense physical requirements of AFL footy.

he did okay on the weekend, but didnt do a whole heck either...id rather see polo or webberley in this weeks side,
like morton-tambling needs a go in the seconds to get things right.....if his injured then rest him..if its just lack of form he should be at coburg ,his had a very dissapointing year so far-love to see him get things right, but for now i beleive webberey and polo are playing better football..

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Beavis use of Tambling is the one thing that confuses me.

We've seen an improvement in a lot of players and they are rewarded with games. We've seen the new recruits come in, learn a bit then go back down.

The players that haven't performed as good as, or better than, last year we've seen dropped (Sloppy, Thomo, Polo, Polak).

Tambling isn't playing anywhere near his 09 performance. By rights he'd be sent down to work on a few things. Yet he stays in the team and earning automatic recalls after an injury spell.

He's either doing things that the TV doesn't show, or Beavis and crew believe the best place for Bling to find his form again is in the Seniors.

Confusing to say the least.

Yep. Perplexing.

He is playing a role, perhaps not to the standrad many expect but enough to satisfy the coaches. Interestingly a lot of times when he is bagged for poor performances he ends up with high player ratings because of tackles and 1%ers etc and the time in the game when they occur.

I am a supporter of Richie. On Sunday with the ball running our way, I had expected him to be more damaging. I think he's still best 22 but his spot is starting to open up to competition to players in the 16 -22nd man category.

However even on Sunday he had 9 combined tackles and 1 %, second most on the day. That's probably why he is playing.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Yeah. Wht RT is a walk-up start but Polo can't get a game has me completely stuffed.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

I like Richie too. But whether he is best 22 or not doesn't seem to matter with Beavis. Morton is a case in point.

Going by the way Beavis has managed the players this year, I really expected Richie to spend some time in the seconds to find the blistering form he had last year. It's immaterial if he is best 22 or not currently, he'd definitely down on last year's form.

quite simply he is restricted physically. let it go

Then why is he playing if he isn't 100%? Not like we're aiming for finals is it? Sounds like excuses to me.

A) Maybe playing wont do him any harm.
B) Maybe they reckon making him play when he cant run 100% will help him improve his alround game, rather than letting him take it easy at coburg.
C) maybe they reckon he is still in our best 22.
D) maybe they reckon his development is best advantaged by continuing to play in the ones.

I reckon a comb of B & C with a bit of A & D.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

After watching Bling fairly closely on Sunday I think he needs to go back to basics and play on instinct again. I watched him a couple of times and his first instinct was the right one, but he hesitated a couple of times and tried to second guess himself and ended up making a mockery of it.

He needs to go back to taking the instinctive option and stop thinking too much. He is putting his body on the line, no problems, but appears to me as if he is getting the ball, then thinking, now what did Dimma want me to do here, instead of doing what his instincts tell him.

If he can do that I think we will see a much improved Bling

Re: Tambling [Merged]

maybe he always gets a game because he is playing a role that the coaching staff want and are happy with? a role that the keyboard warriors dont see nor understand

They'll need to tell us what it is because I wouldn't have a clue what that role actually is. What role do you think it is doolzy?

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Reckon Doolz makes a good point. Why else would he be getting a game? Does anyone really think Beavis is actually gifting games to Tambling that he doesn't deserve?

Hardwick has his 10 team rules and personal rules and clearly Morton is not in the best 22.

Richie is the ultimate team player, Morton is not.

The below shows how poor Morton is and how Tambling outperforms him in nearly all criteria (on this year's form)

http://www.pro-stats.com.au/psw/web/compare_players?tid1=112&pid1=2005114&year1=2010&tid2=112&pid2=2005096&year2=2010

Just noticed Tambling averages over 10 tackles and 1 % per game. I doubt anyone else at Richmond has those figures. Probably why he gets a game

no idea mate, thats my point, the coaching staff and players would know where he's at. hardwick hasnt given anybody a free ride so far, which would indicate that RT is playing a specific role thats been assigned to him.
