Hardwick has his 10 team rules and personal rules and clearly Morton is not in the best 22.

Richie is the ultimate team player, Morton is not.

The below shows how poor Morton is and how Tambling outperforms him in nearly all criteria (on this year's form)

http://www.pro-stats.com.au/psw/web/compare_players?tid1=112&pid1=2005114&year1=2010&tid2=112&pid2=2005096&year2=2010

Just noticed Tambling averages over 10 tackles and 1 % per game. I doubt anyone else at Richmond has those figures. Probably why he gets a game

Apart from Tambling, only Jackson,Tuck,Foley and Angus Graham average 10 or more (tackles and 1% combined) per game.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Anyone else just over it? 5 years of Tambling debate has led me to just not care anymore. Still want him to make it but just not invested as i was in his first few years.

Agree. It's a good sign. We have other options.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

In a way the less we expect from Tambling(i.e. finally get over the Franklin comparison) the better it will be when he gets his act together. He has done it before and probably will do it again when the rest of the Tigers gameplan finally settles down. With his pace he is capable of being close to our best tackler. What we need most is for him to run and bounce at full bore then kick it long into the forward line..... using a pure attacking instinct rather than hesitating and being caught in two minds. It wasn't too long ago he won us a game by doing exactly that.

Was that the Brisbane game you are referring to? Remember that one to. The scenario was simple for him. Had the wing side to himself. He ran and bounced and had a player in line of sight present and he kicked it perfectly. That's the thing, Tambling nees it simple. Get him in tight amongst players and he's lost at sea. Take the first option given to him and he can be a valuable link player.

incorrect, against melbourne he was the one that gave the pass to jordy. i know the result wasn't the best for us even though we won but the ball was hot and contested yet he had the smarts awareness to find the target in his peripheral and execute the perfect pass to him to allow jordy to win us the game

you've become quite boring goody

It was in the dying seconds of the last quarter from memory and the game was in the balance.
He actually started his run from the back pocket supporting a teammate and providing an option until he was finally given the ball on the wing, took a bounce and put the ball on Bowden`s tit.
Bowden then kicked the goal and won us the game.

It was magnificent.

No that's not the game I was referring to, which is why I was asking Hayfever (but you chose to butt in). I am referring to the Brisbane one where he gathered on the half back flank and run up and pinpointed a beautiful pass, think it was to Bowden from memory.
Why have I become boring? Once again weren't you the one who removed Bling from your user name at one stage? Hypocrite. I have backed Tambling in the past. It's a bit of a blight that we're trying to remember individual bits of play from previous years. Hasn't given a yelp this year. PRE votes are usually a good indication. Tambling has earned just 6 votes from all of us this year. Let's hope when he's finally dropped to the 2nds he can refind some confidence and form and find his way back.

Yes it was. Credit where credit is due. It was a magnificent game and possibly one of Tambling's best. Tambling had a great period last year which is why this year is all the more disappointing.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Isn't it saying something that we are remembering snippets over a 5 and a half year career to justify how well he can play?

By now, he should have shown us so much that we see a snippet every game or so. The fact we don't says to me he is, and will be nothing more than an average footballer.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Tambling is a B grade player.
We need to get more A graders in our midfield.

Deledio is an A lister.
Hopefully Martin, Foley, Cotchin and Vickery develop into A graders.

If this happens we'll see better performances from Ritchie.
He'll never be a top liner though.

I'll vouch for this, can remember debating Tambling's merits with you years ago. ;D

The tendency is to cling to the pre-draft hype and hope that, by some miracle, Tambling will live up to it after six years in the system. Reckon we've all just got to let go, for his sake and ours.

Agree, he is what he is. And 2010 for me has been a major disappointment after 2009.

Agreed....which means he is currently playing injured and/or confused by the role expected of him.

My initial point was that we know he is capable of playing quality footy and will benefit from less pressure when fit, used the right way and when the younger guys take on more responsibility. I'm definitely not writing him off yet.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

I'm starting to feel the same about Bling as I did about Cogs when we was finally coming back from injury.

If Bling comes good and starts dominating in matches the way we saw, then its a bonus for the club. We've gone past needing Bling to star for us to have hope for the future.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

V the Lions. Weak link again. One arm tackles. Choking in major plays. Drop.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

I think it's safe to say that the much hyped ten or so game stretch of quality last year was an abberation. He has reverted to type this year, and unfortunately that type is a player who has no real influence on matches. I'm sure more excuses will come, but frankly enough is enough. Must spend time at Coburg.
