Quite simply, he still continues to not work hard enough.

When the ball came came to him he was brave, and when a bloke came at him he tackled well, but people who were there would have seen 4 times when he just plainly refused to work hard enough and people around me were getting very, very frustrated, as was I.
Spot on Bobby

Have had a couple of looks at the game and I can see why some where happy with his game and others unhappy, IMHO I wouldnt drop him I would put him in the back pocket on the dangerous SFs and say work your butt off Richard, concentrate for 120 minutes..... His game just seems to be habit after a 100 games, higher goals must be set, bugger buddy I dont care what pick you were , everybody on the list is 100% equal , time to become a weapon and make the long time vacant BP position you very own Bling

Re: Tambling [Merged]

I would have liked to see Bling on the highlight reels including a couple of goals. I honestly thought he would given the forward line selection, the team was up and about and the Coasters defence.
I struggle with the idea of Bling becoming a servicable player. better off seeing if a club will punt him and give us a decent draft pick. Nason is currently what I though Bling would be. maybe harsh but that's how I see it.

Agree bob and I have been an ardent supporter of Bling.
Watching the replay I don't think it was as evident on the TV broadcast as it was at the game.
His efforts are there when he gets involved but looks to be coasting between contests all too often atm unfortunately.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Just doesn't know how to involve himslef in the game if it isn't happening in his exact location.

Cannot work himself into a game. Tries super hard when the ball is in his area but doesn't get involved enough. Has all the physical tools to be a top flight player but just doesn't get involved enough. Has to be played on the back flank or back pocket.

Maybe just lacks the smarts.

pretty sure this is where it's at. lots of skill though - we just aren't seeing it due to the lack of smarts.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Tie him to Nason and get Ben to lead him to the ball.

geez alot of work to get him firing. i like Dustin's instructions better - just get in the midfield... and do what comes naturally.

Or maybe just mentally weak which leads to hesitation and ultimately lack of confidence.

Richo's 'Franklin'(yes him again) comments were damning this week I thought.
Had hoped Bling had gotten past all that after his good form last year but after a long time team mates verbalises those doubts in the press it does make you wonder.
Perhaps a change of scene would be best for all.

agree that his lack of form is psycholigical, but very little to do with Buddy.

What comments were they kaToOey ?

Can't find a link so don't take it as gospel but I believe Richo basically said in the press last week that Tambling hadn't become the player the club had hoped. He was a good/decent player but had not evolved into the damaging mid that we'd hoped for when drafted. He felt much of his troubles had stemmed from Franklin comparisons.

Edit: Here it is v

if that's truly the case then there's no point pursuing this. plus it's badly hurt his trade value. loss - loss.

Thats just it mate.

Those things you mention weren't going to change much 3 years ago & they certainly arent now.
Some players with far less physical tools know where & when to run i.e Nason & Collins & others like Richie don't.

It's not Richies fault either as ILO he's playing close to the ability he has for the position he's playing.
Its just the way he is.

Here we go again. Somehow they miraculously changed for almost a full season last year.

The observation that's he's not working hard enough seems to make far more sense.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

I don't know if anybody else noticed, but was it "lets make Richie look bad" day on Sunday? The amount of times his teammates handballed to Richies ankles, or lobbed a 15 meter pass just over his head really didn't do him any favours. That, along with handballing to him when he was flatfooted surrounded by Eagles players conspired to make Bling look a lot more average than what he was on the day.

To his credit he didn't drop his head and sulk, he still went in hard and put his body on the line.

I am not usually a Tambling appologist, but I still think he can regain the form of last year that got him (correct me if I am wrong) 5th in the best and fairest. If he does that he will have a role going forward at the Tigers.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Tambling is a bit unlucky. The glass half empty types were desperate to find a scape goat this week when Tuck, McGuane, King, Gus, Vickery and Nason all played very well. Poor Richie was a last resort to vent their spleens on :p
