Tambling (merged)

Re: Tambling [Merged]

IMHO I thought he pretty much lost his feet every time he went near the ball, even when he had that 1 sec to use it. Hence he was under pressure by tackles the whole time especially in the first half.

Work on his core strength and balance. Get him on a surf board or something. What I saw of him I thought he was terrible even though he seemed to be trying. If it's an injury then fix him up and then back through the magoo's. If it's confidence off to the magoo's.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Thought he was ok in patches

But is definately a cooaster
Watch the replay and you can watch him standing flat footed and ball watching
Just doesnt look like he has the natural nouse of star at this point

Can do the odd good thing as he should being a league player but doesn't posess the natural ability to gut run and continually be on the move to get the next posession

Yeah I did and to trot out "did you actually watch the game" is pretty pathetic

I have watched every game this year. Even though Richie has had less possesions and given us less run this year i have noticed his defence pressure and tacking have gone way up

If he was pick 30 we would be saying how we have a good core player on our hands instead of the *smile* that gets posted about him
I don't believe asking you if you saw the game was pathetic. Just a question. I was unsure of whether you did or were just trotting out the..because he was pick 4 line as a defence of his game.
All I was saying was, "gave us run laid 7 tackles" doesn't adequately describe his game as "solid".
I repeat, he coasts and spectates too often. I did say he didn't shirk the issue (most times he was 2nd to the ball or he fumbled under next to no pressure). I did acknowledge his improvement last year. Unfortunately he hasn't reproduced anywhere near it this season.
As for being "pick 30", well he wasn't. No changing where he was picked. Not that it excuses his shortcomings.

Question for you..Do you believe he has reproduced his form from last year? Or anywhere near it?
If the answer is yes, well I disagree that he has, he's gone backwards. (and nothing to do with pick 4 or 30)
If you believe he hasn't, what's the reason?
If its because he isn't fit, had compartment syndrome, tight buttocks, hamstring or whatever, he should be getting match conditioning at Coburg. Then if his form is good enough, he comes back in.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

A bit better last night but still miles away from the performance we need. It's like he's content to be a Mazda 3 when he's actually driving a RX8 (nah, not a Ferrari). If he touches the ball 20 times, probably 2-5 times the play will actually be affected. He just doesn't make things happen, but he seems to have the tools to. They seem to have finally flipped Newman's switch so, ya never know I spose. I'd be throwing him at GC.

Agreed TTT.
But I'd be surprised if they considered trading him. He's probably got a bit of currency with the club hierarchy in regard to assisting us get $millions from the Feds for Punt Rd facilities. Time will tell though.

I don't think he has much trade currency.

He is definitely below is 2009 level. I wonder if Hardwick has asked for something different, that is taking time. No doubt, he is laying more tackles this year, which is good. I reckon he is not as fit as he should be. His 3rd qtr of half back was good, but it really should be the norm.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Does anyone else think maybe he's too bulky? He's got a bit of muscle for an Aboriginal player, maybe losing weight will increase his agility and pace?

Another nondescript game through the forward/middle that simply matches his ability.

Please play him back Dimma.

It has been soooooooo obvious for soooooo long he is best suited to playing there.
You've got to run hard to be an effective hbf, bling isn't at the moment

Re: Tambling [Merged]

he's not solid enough for the mid. last nighjt i saw him get brushed off the ball far too easy on numerous occasions.

was terrible up forward. just run around in circles.

looked much better down back.

there was one passage i watched where he was pressuring in the forward line on Gilbert. Gilbert chipped over his head, in the back pocket, then run right down to the hff trying to get on the end of the next plays. Bling just jogged along and didn't try to follow him when he should have. Gilbert had hands on hips sucking for air then jogged back to the backline line. Bling jogged back to his position.

it was noticeable and showed how Bling is both unaware of what is happening and required when playing footy at the top level. it is the difference between becoming a good player and a succesful team.

Is said to have carried a few niggles of late and I believe that Hardwick knows where Bling is at. If he does not do the things asked of him, he will not get a game- just ask McMahon and Morton!!

Re: Tambling [Merged]

This thread is just hilarious. So many excuses being made for such a poor footballer. Doesn't run hard enough, slow disposal, goes to ground too easily, consistently second to the ball, no awareness etc. After 6 years we know he will never be a star, but I would like to see him at least impact the game. He is basically invisible out there, he makes no difference to the game whatsoever.

I have watched the game twice now, the second time I watched him closely and despite getting quite a few possies he did nothing towards making us a better team.

Just a disappointing year, and I don't see it changing anytime soon.

back pocket for leysy Col.

Switching off or squibing it back there it stands out like dogs balls compared to up the ground.

It could force him to concentrate all game.

yeah i think Hardwick will make the right decision with fringe players.

as far as niggles go ... no excuse. that'd be 90% of players every week, at least. once your out there, your fit.

as many coaches will say, you only have the ball for a short amount of time. thats why its important what you do when you don't have it. Bling lets himself down often here.

Its because he needs time & space, awareness in close is terribly hard to learn.

Richie has never had it ergo the odds are he was always ging to struggle played in positions where he doesnt have that space.
Time has proven this correct with Richie.

He is very good overhead & has a turn of foot. Pre-requisites for a defender.

We are crying out for some dash back there.

Back pocket next week please Damien.

Agreed daisy.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Maybe true, ToO’s and Leysy but it still comes back to the core issue that you need to run hard in the back pocket or flank position and Bling can’t or won’t right now.

To be frank I’m more worried about Bling than I ever have been before.

As a Tambling "critic" I thought he had a good second half. I hope they persist in the small defender/back pocket role as it's likely his last option. It will actually force him to run hard. Hopefully he can be the platform mfor some attacking thrusts as well. He's a better option than farmer IMO.
Given Hardwick says we need more outside mids maybe Tambling is not in the frame for this role?
I wouldn't mind them throwing him the challenge of LeCras this week.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Short memories. Tambling was playing back at the start of the season and got well beaten a few times.

He might give some run but the defensive side is a massive question mark.
