Are you saying I'm not observant enough to pick up on stuff like this as it happens? ;D
Not at all. I have Tambling's left foot pass out of the middle against the Dockers (going right to left of the screen) etched in my head. I know what you're talking about and I remember the pass well. ;)
It's amazing how our minds work when you focus on one player. ;D

I'd like to see a breakdown of kicks on either foot. He'd have to be around 70/30 I reckon and certainly more willing to use the non-preferred than most players. He kicked a great long goal off the left boot late last year too from memory.

Here's a brief summary of the past fortnight: "Tambling is improving...tackle count is high...coming along nicely...question marks over his pace & agility...more work is required with his decision making...but his doing just fine...stick that where it fits!"

Last year, Tambling salvaged something in the 2nd half of the year, in what was a dissapointing season overall for Richmond and himself. In the next fortnight, Richie must instinctively focus on attacking the ball. He cant afford to be a spectator against the likes of the hawks or cats midfield. There will be alot of pressure off the ball and it's this part of Tambling's game that must show improvement. Dont worry about the increasing stats, they only hide the real problems.

I am interested you say that Skills, because although I know what yor saying about the stoppages I've also thought of Bling as a player who is more than the sum of his stats. Like Lids he breaks the line and gets the creative possessions that leads to scores. If he was getting Sugar like stats we would be a much better team because of what he does with it. One of Bling's issues I suspect has been maintain the 4 quarter intensity at the contest that gives 25+ possession games.

I think some of the posters on this site and others will have to realise the direction the game is going and where Terry is trying to take the team. The stats on the weekend showed Johnson, Foley, Tambling and Delidio all around the mid 20s in the possesion stats.

With the pace of the game and the rotations I would hazard a guess that several players in the mid 20s will be not only the norm, but probably the desired outcome of the future Tiger midfield. The days of one or two midfielders racking up mid 30s possesion counts will be on the decline. Far harder to man up and beat several quality midfielders rotating on and off the bench and through the forward pocket than one or two guns who play the whole game in the midfield.

I think we should stop looking for Tambling to get 30 plus possies and start celebrating a number of moderate to high possesion gatherers in the midfield and more importantly a far more competetive team.

That is true LCB, 30+ days are over (unless you play for Geelong). But a good AFL mid these days averages above 20 touches a game. To give you an idea, 47 guys are averaging more than 22 touches a games this year in the AFL.

Bling is averaging about 18, his 24 touches on the weekend was a career high. He is still half way between being a role player like Hyde and a core player like Foley. Terry is still limiting his playing time. My feeling is that both Bling and Lids are teetering on the verge of graduating to full AFL gun status.

Skills is right though, if Bling does the little things the stat count will take care of itself. My point is that Bling’s 22 touches are worth other’s 27.

Yep I think the real problem with Tambling is the perception of some supporters who really don't know much about what it takes to become an AFL player and that it doesn't happen overnight.

As a Tambling critic I felt that i had to answer this point.

I think most of us know it would take an amazing amount of work and sacrifice. Nobody is doubting that Richie is working hard. The problem is the recruiting staff who obvioulsly rated him too highly.

Let's look at the draft:
1. Deledio - been very good, will be a superstar
2. Roughead - kicked 40 goals last year looks great again
3. Griffin - probably will be as good as Deledio, but fair enough
4. Tambling - question mark
5. Franklin - being considered in the top three players in the AFL at 21
6. Williams - the biggest problem
7. Lewis - led the Hawks for touches in 07 and had 38 quality touches in his first game 08

I think we made a massive error, and nobody but one-eyed Richmond people would argue.

Miller made his career from recruiting Carey. Missing Franklin should cancel that out and he should lose his job immediatley...

Is it a coincidence that most of your 17 posts are on Hawthorn?

Abe shares that quality with a few others, checkers.

We are working very hard ATM on Bling's I50 kicks. He seldom takes a shot almost always looking to spot up. As instructed I'm sure.

He's improved pretty much every week this season in the quality of I50 kicks but has a ways to go.

And every scout will have noted this.

This is the week for Bling to swap his first few I50 kicks for shots from 50 or more. Watch the forward line open up and then he can start to pick and choose easier targets.

Abe, he said “supporters”, meaning supporters of the Richmond football club. He wasn’t talking to you so no need to justify your position.

How is my post about Hawthorn?

It is about the draft you genius...

Where does she say that particular post is about Hawthorn, Eisenstein?

The Western Bulldogs and Hawthorn also missed out on Franklin with their first picks. If Hawthorn had only one pick they would not have picked him up!

After the first five rounds in 2008 there is definitely no question mark over Tambling.

Everyone will look good when a team wins.

Just remember Richo was better than Franklin at the same age and if Richo hadnt have done his knee god knows what could have happened in 95.
