Jack, truly you are a renaissance man, your effortless grasp of Russian Film, Physics and inside 50 delivery nicely drawn together to get to the core point: Hawthorn are sh!t.

Really? All 38 were quality?

Look I didn't see the whole game but he was highly praised by the commentators and got votes in the papers.

My point is, Tambling never gets that much of the ball. By any measure Lewis is a much better player.

Ha, Lewis kicking lets hims down at times, Gives away to many free kicks and is undisciplined.

What a stupid post.

So far. Lewis was clearly the most AFL ready player in the 2004 draft so it's no surprise to anyone (well, maybe except for you) that he's ahead of the likes of Tambling at this stage in their careers. However, it's what they do during the prime of their careers that counts.

Im a fan of Lewis personally but comparing the two at this stage is unfair. Tambling was alot skinnier and thus did not play much midfield until this year really. So he's still tuning to the hardness and pace in the middle and has had limited experience there. Tambling is improving every game. Give him another 15-20 games in the middle and then see how he compares to Lewis. I agree that Tambling has better skills and alot more imporvement in him than Lewis has at this stage.

with some players you know they are about as good as they can be and you know that because you can see it in their football.

Tambling keeps giving us glimpses of brilliance so you get the sense that he still has alot of improvement in him still and thats the scary thing because he's getting better and better and better.

If his graph continues to rise then in 2 years time he will be nigh on an unstoppable force that can only be countered by an immovable object of which their arent many, if any.

How does this graph look for the player we passed up - claiming we had achieved a recruiting coup - Franklin?

If you know enough from that time to know that we claimed a coup in getting Tambling then you know full well the consensus view on Franklin at the time. The Hawks got lucky, even Brereton admits this. So stop trolling.

You drafted Franklin, we had Tambling. Personally I am happy knowing by careers end Tambling will walk away proud of his achievements, while Buddy will be booking in his appearance on Enough Rope with his various apologies in tow.

Ouch! I think honest Abe has just been owned.

This Tambling Franklin debate is stupid they are totally different players one is a key forward the other a midfielder Richie had 7 tackles the weekend don't think Buddy has tackled 7 times his career he doesn't need to if he is kicking 6 a game. I think they will both end up being very good footballers but Richo was a better player than Buddy at the same stage in their careers but didn't have they talent around him for support like Buddy & if it wasn't for injuries & crap coaches who knows where he could be in the game. Everyone was saying the Hawks stuffed up by picking Hodge over Judd but I would say now that Hodge in the last fews years has bridged the gap maybe Richie will to!!

No it wasn't. It was Roughead we got Bling instead of.
Not true...Hawks took Roughead at pick 2 so he wasn't available when we took Bling.

Really, no matter who you barrack for, noone in their right mind would say Tambling is better than Franklin. However, luck has a bit to do with it. Tambling was touted as a possible number 1 pick, whilst Franklin wasn't mentioned in the same breath as Deledio, Tambling, Roughead or Griffen.

The big issue for mine is that we passed up on a KPP again to go small again. There are dozens of quality midfielders running around in the AFL, not many good (really good) KPPs. I would have thought after the Fiora debacle we would have plumped for a KPP (particularly after getting Deledio number 1).

We went for the best players available, the Hawks had a strategy and went KPP. At this stage, the Hawks had a better strategy than we did.

There's plenty of dud KPP's running around, not all of them still in the AFL too. Should West Coast have taken Polak before Judd?

Look can we finally correct all this stuff about Hawthorn.

I always thought it was "the two poos", meaning adult and kids faeces.
Now you guys are telling me it's "sh!t and wee".

This is really beginning to distract me. Can we please decide how to welcome our trolls.

Did I say we should have used our number one pick on him??? We already picked up a midfielder, why not use the second pick to try and fill a glaring weakness?
