Tambling (merged)

Looks like his getting his old pace back,an starting to look more then useful BUT im afraid to say that I dont think he will ever be a super kick, except for pressure free training I have never seen Richie be an outstanding kick under pressure.

Good signs though

heres my take on Ritchie.

One thing all kids have to learn to deal with is lactic acid buildup before they hit the wall.

They would of been made aware of this in the junor leagues but would never have experienced it at the levels that AFL football would take it to.

Most people would take 10-15 minutes before hitting the wall. Everyone is different.

Getting over the top is easy for some and others others dont take it too well.

Once your over things get alot easier and your able to run a game out alot easier.

Maybe Tambling still trying to find out or work through how to deal with his lactic buildup.

everyone deals with the "wall" in different ways and Tambling is no different.

i understand how this may look like trying to make excuses which is why i'd just call it an optional theory more than what i actually think is happening.

I may be hard to please, but I still need to see more from Tambling. I thought he was almost invisible in the first half. And you can't take 60 minutes off as an onballer at the top level. 2nd half showed promise, but he's always had promise.
Fair call,at least he's showing promise.

The thing with Tambling is that when he does something good (ie side step and run around his opponent), he'll then more than likely stuff it up (ie kick it to a nest of opposition players).

Must say one thing i did like was that run on the southern stand wing, had about 2 or 3 bounces and running at full pelt, reminded me somewhat of that NAB cup game against the pies in 2005, first hit out for bling.

Hmmmmm......Snifffffffffffff ;D

Yep, he certaily does let himself down with his kicking and also has trouble making quick decision with handball and choosing the top option.
His vision is a little narrow as he seemsto weave his way back into trffic at times when straight hard fast runing woul see him break the lines.

However 71 pages in this forum on a kid still only 20 must mean we all have high hopes for young Richie.

Continues to improve and is doing some wonderful things out there on the park. He is working harder..

but needs to get more consistency into his game still. Too big a gap between the good and the poor for my liking.

There were a couple of occassions where he again simply didn't appear to put in 100%. :headscratch
I can't excuse that no matter who you are.

Maybe at certain stages he's stuffed? I have no issue about Tambings committment against Carlton. He had the 2nd most tackles and most contested possessions in the team. Watching the game to me it was the most determined I've ever seen him play. Personally I think he gave it all he had on the night.

Perhaps you are right that he was buggered Goodies but it's never a good look. I did not rate his first half much at all TBH.

Still those stats are very interesting and encouraging. 8)

His 2nd half was much much better.

Definitely started slowly TOO but could say that for a lot of players. Wasn't a pretty first half and amazing really that we were only a goal behind at the break. Mind you Carlton's game was atrocious too, their short chipping kicks did them no good and I think was the main reason we were still in it at half time.

I thought that in the preseason game at narranderra,he was charging round like he has a massive point to prove. Maybe he has, but i reckon the young fella is giving it his best, can't ask for any more than that.

oh im only joking settle down !!! ;D
:hihi :hihi Yeah, that Melbourne midfield & defence, really applied some pressure today - not! :rotfl

Just saw the replay, I don't think there was as much difference between his 1st and 2nd halvfes as people are saying.

Didn't pressure that mark and made a kicking clanger in the 1st half but otherwise he was pretty consistent over 4 quarters. He looked nervous at the start but still went in hard.
