Tambling (merged)

Stats for the game:

4 Kicks, 8 Handballs, 4 Marks

I'm one of the few Richmond supporters who has strong faith in this kid. Still think he will be a gun.

Agree

Ricky did alright tonight and gave me some faith for his future. he is was not brilliant, but he has put on some wieght/bulk, he tried hard all night and never gave up, was more willing to chase than last year and was far more willing to go body on body with the opposition tonight. I was pleasantly surprised but certainly not overwhelmed by him, one to watch and on the improve this year i would think. he ran hard all night, more than i can say for many of them out there actually..... had a red hot go and wasnt as scared to get physical as he used to be.

keep at it ricky.............

All i can say is that even after 1 NAB game . there's not a chance in hell i'll be eating " humble pie" this year , or any other year , to all you Emu's with your head stuck in the sand ( or elsewhere) i dont care how old they both are or how many years they have been shaving , etcetc
The fact is RT and even JON are not up the league standard , they are so comical to watch at times its sad , and we give one a 3 year contract extension ... go figure !

benny , his ankle doesnt make him play on and run straight into an opponent standing in front of him , nor does it cause you to kick across the ground grubbers , he looked pretty fit to me ......
enough of the excuses ... we have heard them all , its like a stuck CD on here , since as people report RT has been training the house down and burning on the track well then it finally time for this player to deliver ..... if he is up to it !

He was hobbling around just a few days ago because of that ankle injury.

Unfair to judge him on last night.

Are you serious? If Tambling is not accountable then who is? Why on earth would he have been selected to play in the NAB Cup if he wasn't fit.

If Tambling is not accountable then the fitness staff/selection committee must be.

Started well and had some good moments although not enough of them. Couple of dodgy handballs. Couple of very good ones.

Some of his kicks were like subsuburban class. Rusty and not a naturally fine kick.

Agree, SCOOP, much harder at it. And worked a lot harder. Not our worst.

Agree, some of his handballs were slick. I didn't think he had that vision. His kicking was rusty at best.

If he keeps that work rate he will be fine.

Prefer him to Kane Johnson to be honest. And he has another 10 years in his favour.

Agreed. The two most promsing signs is that, one, there was lttle of the standing around looking at things instead of being pro active although he can and should use his speed better defensively. Second he drew and took body contact in pack situations and over the low ball - one memorable effort at half back where he went shoulder to shoulder with Harvey and came off best. Still needs to flick the switch and take em on more - he can do it - just needs to do it more often.

Another postitive (not to do with Tambling) was Deledios defensive pressure and chasing in the forward line. Dont know how many tackles he made but seemed a few.

I was suprised how limited Tambling was used by Terry. I would say he got about 50%-60% game time. Maybe someone with Pro-stats can confirm this. He played more a defensive role and with a few cameos in the middle.

On a few occasions sprayed a few kicks when running at full pace, showed very good pace in & out of packs, but that's about it.

Overall, very limited time on the ground, saying that we really need him to deliver this year is an understatement.

He looks to be a good player in the making but not the superstar many of us thought he would be.Disposal a big concern.

his first half continued the normal trend of his career...the second half i noticed a couple of things...im prepared to give him some leeway for this week...wouldnt want to deliver that first half effort again....deplorable.

IMO RT is not a quality mid,

he should be played in the fwd pocket and told to chase harass and create opportunities

from what i saw last night the kid is lazy and scared, when given a rocket he pulled his finger out and tried harder but sheez the kid just doesnt work hard enough. let him earn his spot in the fwd line and get lids out of there before he rots.

brown and lids must be at HF and rotating on the ball

Lets put his strength to the benefit of the team. While we play at the G for the 4-5 rnds, Plonk him on the wing so he can use his pace to effect.
