Tambling (merged)

I have seen him play 1 game and 1 quarter of footy for the whole season. Not a good enough return to deserve his spot in the team.

How can you honestly judge him if you've only seen him play 1 game and a quarter? :spin

Seriously though, you're wrong. We still see occasionally the Tambling of old, but it's becoming more and more rare. Had some real impact yesterday and is showing some tremendous signs for next year and beyond.

Well, geez, if a Hawthorn supporter mate of yours reckons he should have been dragged then he must be right. I mean, Hawthorn fans are just so wise and enlightened and everything.

:hihi It's not as if they have an axe to grind or a point to prove. There would be NO reason a Hawthorn supporter would want Tambling to fail.

was in the rooms before the game a couple of times midseason and Tambo seemed to be really struggling with getting his shoulder right. Got it heavily strapped and was always walking around the room trying as hard as possible to 'loosen it up'.

I've noticed over the last 3-4 games he's had no strapping at all which to me suggest that his form has been relative to his body finally coming right which kinda makes sense.

Watch out if he manages to have a serious preseason and an injury free year next year

He has turned the corner and will be an excellent player, i'm looking forward to watching him play next year.

How is Turbo?

I'm sure if he was here he would point out the next pick after Bling always give 100% in his defensive efforts.

Thought Bling was good again yesterday and has made significant imrovement in his efforts over the last month. Yes he did show some old habits of trotting along, but these instances are becoming less and less. I think he will be a very good player if he continues to develop along the lines he has shown over the last month. And I have been critical of him earlier in the year.

I never said the Hawthorn guy was my mate. He was just a stranger who knew a lot about footy.

As for many of you missing Tamblings habits of just jogging around. It begs the question, do you only watch where the ball is?

As long as Tambling follows the play 10 meters off the ball, refuses to chase players he can easily run down and tackle. I am sorry, I won't be saying he's improving.

Only efforts like those against WC will be acceptable with an occasional off day. Not the other way around. I suppose I just hold players of his quality to a higher standard. I am not interested in a 100 game player that has no impact, if he wants to be that we can find a player that will.

sheesh! sorry JP nothing personal but thats an incredibly unrealistic expectation of a junior but then again, most expectations from richmond supporters are totally ludicrous anyway :-\

You're expecting too much too soon, he doesn't have the fitness to run at full pelt every time for a full game. Shaun Burgoyne was a pretty inconsistent mid-teens possession numebers per game player in his 3rd year just like Tambling is now. Give him another year or two and he'll be tearing it up, just wait and see.

I totall agree with your statement!!! Thats what i have been trying to tell people aswell........

Congratulations to Tambling this year - a huge character building experience. Agree his efforts left a lot to be desired earlier in the year culminating in his demotion to Coburg. But to Richie's credit he has obviously worked on his game and begun to unleash the potential we all know he possesses. Since his return from Coburg (Eagles from memory?) the graph has definitely been on the upward curve. I would hope the needle has only started to move and there is much more to come.

Both Richie (since his demotion) and Deledio (since his return from injury) have really started to make an impact and give us long suffering fans something to look forward to.

A little look at his progress so far:

DisposalsMarksTacklesGoals
20059.23.42.10.8
200612.04.42.30.7
2007 14.3 4.92.60.9

Not the be all and end all as people say but definitely following a nice pattern so far. Given a full preseason and good luck with injuries next year I'd be hoping to see something like 17.5, 6.5, 4.5, 1.5 next year as his fitness increases enabling him to play more of each game and get to more contests spending more time in the midfield.

Agree Disco, he's progressing steadily, not as fast as some would like I suspect, but as long as he gets there who gives a *smile* ! Couple of years before we are a finals threat. Plenty of time.

It would be interesting to see his stats before and after being dropped this year.
