Still giving us nothing...'cept Cups and Medals

Given there are about 10 teams all within 1 game of each other, the fact that we beat Collingwood and Melbourne means they are currently outside the 8. Every team from this group of 10 or so teams that plays us will be outside the eight, because it is only 7 rounds in and it is a small sample size.

We beat North this week who are in the eight now but likely to be out of it if we beat them, and the same lines will be used. Why don't they simply watch how we play and watch how we dominate teams and acknowledge this form?

exactly.

I think I've got it now. Here is the explanation as I see it. According to the media:

Collingwood beat Adelaide in Adelaide and had a narrow but brave win against a winless Brisbane. They also had a brave 7 goal loss to us. They have a 4-3 record and are outside the 8. That means they are awesome.

We lost to Adelaide in Adelaide but have basically pounded everyone else we have played into submission and now have a 6-1 record with a % over 154. But 2 of the sides we smashed are outside of the 8 because of said smashing and a 3rd was only outside the 8 on % before said smashing. So the only team we have beaten that is currently inside the 8 is Hawthorn who is 4th and who also beat Collingwood.

So all this means that Collingwood is 9th on the ladder and are awesome and we are on top of the ladder but haven't beaten anyone.

That's pretty clear isn't it?

You can just imagine all the dud journos copying and pasting this post..... :hihi

Collingwood beat a team that hasnt won a game and theyre world beaters. Even after conceding 16 goals against them.
Freo was top sh!t 2 weeks ago but after a richmond slapping tbeyre a bottom 6 side.
4 footy shows last night, all bascially saying the same, finals arent in may, no injuries and adelaide still beat us....

Doesn’t worry me,
Keep underestimating us
Just makes our victories sweeter

We just have to keep winning

Norf at Etihad this weekend then West Coast in Perth the following weekend are both in the current top 8

Then Saints at the G followed by two weekends against last years top 8 Essendon and Port (in Adelaide). Then go to the bye with Geelong at the G.

After the Bye we have Sydney at Etihad, Adelaide at the G and GWS in Sydney

Yeah it’s really starting to give me the sh!ts to be honest. I can’t ever recall a Premiership side being treated with such contempt.

After every premiership the media's default line : is this the start of a dynasty?

I've heard the line 'you haven't beaten anyone yet' a few times at work. I just reply back, 'you obviously don't think much of your team then'. They shut up quick

Can't see why we should be getting uptight about media experts or rival fans giving us nothing. We'll simply keep on rocking up on the day n take what we *smile* want, same as last year n the nuffers can kiss our furry butt cracks on the way through.
Doesn't matter what they say or think. There's a flag in the bank n we're back on top of the ladder, the rest of it is just background noise.

spot on

And no Cotch and Dusty's not quite hit his straps. J_Town ditto. No Bellis who may have been our most improved player last year and had a big finals series.

But has a Tiger you just want to slap the moaning grimace of the face of that Scott tool. Geez I hope we steamroll #lolNorf.

Also the only mention of us on Footy Classified was "is Dusty lairising?" and maybe the Dockers were a bit emo about Wossy Wyon getting some bad press. Sheesh.

As much as I get annoyed at Lloyd constantly nitpicking at us, reckon he had a point. No it's not a big problem while the team's performing well, but it's not the first game I've seen Dusty ignore teammates in a better position. But maybe he's been instructed to take the shot while he's spending so much time forward.

I would have thought that's a fair question. Dusty has been solid without reaching the heights of 2017.

Hasn't played anywhere near the same midfield time as last year. Are they asking if Dangerfield is lairising? His disposal stats are way down on last year as well. I don't get these lines of questions to be honest. It was always going to be hard for him to repeat last year's form.

I don't watch the footy shows (for all of the reasons that are explained so well on PRE) so I don't get the disrespect angle. The commentators on game day all seem very respectful. Also, I seem to spend most of my time with opposition supporters at the moment hosing them down because they reckon we have it in the bag already.

On Robert Walls, I would say: if you opened your other eye and properly watched the game Robert, and saw the score kicked by Freo (their lowest ever apparently), despite all of the copious but less than meaningful possessions gathered by your love children, you would sensibly and calmly vote 3 Astbury, 2 Grimes, 1 Rance or some similar combination. That would leave you with at least some credibility. You are welcome Robert.

Ashbury or grimes stiff not to get votes, but I couldn’t bring myself to disagree with Walls.

One of those weird games. Without Fyfe, Neale and sandi they would’ve lost by 120+. Conversely, we had an even spread of perfectly serviceable games.

This. I don't get the angst about what commentators think of us. So long as we're performing like we are, let the haters hate. It'll just make it more enjoyable when we repeat last year's efforts and the salt mines explode again.

Nah Dusty is playing pretty much his usual game. We are cruising past sides that would normally challenge us and I think people underestimate the effect of Skip Chimpa. I mean I don't know but I reckon sometimes Dusty is trying to be a bit too creative when he feels there a lack of an on field leader. He feels he has to push the boundaries a bit. I don't think he has the knack and it goes wrong on him. But I think anyone saying he looks off his game are going a bit early. Lloyd's a mug and like most in the footy media at the moment his understanding of our list is wafer thin even a star like Dusty.

The commentators are split into two groups: those who played (King, Dunstall, Brereton, Roos, Carey, Ling, Mooney, etc.) who give us full credit, and those who barrack (Wankley, Robinson, Clark et al) who can't stand it and look for excuses to cut us down or predict our demise. (Lyon and Lloyd fit more in the latter than the former.) Only one of these groups is worth listening to.
