Still giving us nothing...'cept Cups and Medals

Walls said he checked the stats and remains adamant that he's still correct on giving 0 votes to Richmond players. Deluded.

Getting the most attention he has had since we sacked him as coach!

Blatant move for relevance on his behalf!

I know it shouldn't but the disrespect at our club is pretty damn annoying. Every week as we rise to a new level, there is a new narrative in the media to knock us down a peg. This week it is the "Richmond haven't played anyone".

Yeah it’s really starting to give me the sh!ts to be honest. I can’t ever recall a Premiership side being treated with such contempt.
The haters and the naysayers will be in a state of utter crisis when we (most probably) go back to back in September!!
Make no mistake this year it’s Richmond against the world! We are feared and loathed again just like the old days.

we need to turn the lack of appreciation into a positive spin, and SpaceAce summed it up really well... us against the world.

Why does it matter where teams finished last year?

At the start of 2017, most sides would have been pencilling in a win or two against us after our 2016 shocker.

X2. us being a powerhouse again after a decades in the wilderness is just a big culture shock I reckon.

The thing I find annoying is this unchallenged idea that Richmond came from nowhere, 13th in 2016, to the flag, like it was a miracle.

They had actually won 15,12 and 15 games in the previous 3 seasons, making them close to the most winning team of the last 5 seasons. 2016 is the aberration, not the other 4 seasons. No-one ever states that.

Spot on Wayne. I replied to some Pies supporter on twitter yesterday stating we had beaten Hawthorn, Melb, Collingwood and Freo who most of the media experts are considering very good to good teams this year. I said don't look at last years 8, look at current form. I asked them how do they think the Pies are travelling, they replied very well, so I said there ya go!!

Listened to the age real footy podcast and again they have dished our performances, saying we haven't beaten much this year. To be fair to them, they have been on board the tiger train from the beginning of the year, but the comments this week were unnecessary. Why not just praise their domination against Freo.

Given there are about 10 teams all within 1 game of each other, the fact that we beat Collingwood and Melbourne means they are currently outside the 8. Every team from this group of 10 or so teams that plays us will be outside the eight, because it is only 7 rounds in and it is a small sample size.

We beat North this week who are in the eight now but likely to be out of it if we beat them, and the same lines will be used. Why don't they simply watch how we play and watch how we dominate teams and acknowledge this form?

To be fair, no one we’ve played this year seemed like much after we finished with them.

Yeah this. These teams, before we demolished them, were "good teams who are definite finalists and even top 4". After we smacked them around the park and rubbed their noses in dog sh!t they suddenly became "haven't beaten anyone of note yet" teams. Laughing.

Then after beating the likes of brisbane stkilda and essendon they become serious contenders again. Laughing more.

Yet if they dropped Brisbane game they would have been 3 and 4 and 11th on the ladder. It's funny how expectation works.

David King on SEN yesterday said we were at risk of peaking too early. I really do not think this is the case as most of our playing group are only now kicking to gear, and we still have lapses in our game that need to be fixed. The third quarter vs Freo is an example of this, we wont be letting that happen later in the season. We have not peaked yet but we will come finals and everyone should be scared.
On the "not played anyone of note" sure our draw has helped in the early rounds but some of the teams we have beaten were in the 8 at time of playing them this year and one of them (hawthorn) we were on top of all day before we let them back in during the last quarter. We've beaten an inform collingwood that were supposedly on the 'up' as well. You can only beat what's put in front of you and there are no signs of us letting up.

Collingwood beat a team that hasnt won a game and theyre world beaters. Even after conceding 16 goals against them.
Freo was top *smile* 2 weeks ago but after a richmond slapping tbeyre a bottom 6 side.
4 footy shows last night, all bascially saying the same, finals arent in may, no injuries and adelaide still beat us....

If only we played geel, sydney, gws in the early rounds. Our percentage would be bigger.

I think I've got it now. Here is the explanation as I see it. According to the media:

Collingwood beat Adelaide in Adelaide and had a narrow but brave win against a winless Brisbane. They also had a brave 7 goal loss to us. They have a 4-3 record and are outside the 8. That means they are awesome.

We lost to Adelaide in Adelaide but have basically pounded everyone else we have played into submission and now have a 6-1 record with a % over 154. But 2 of the sides we smashed are outside of the 8 because of said smashing and a 3rd was only outside the 8 on % before said smashing. So the only team we have beaten that is currently inside the 8 is Hawthorn who is 4th and who also beat Collingwood.

So all this means that Collingwood is 9th on the ladder and are awesome and we are on top of the ladder but haven't beaten anyone.

That's pretty clear isn't it?

Glenn Luff and David King on SEN just spruiking the elite ness of Shed. ... they apparently been part of the Shane Edwards appreciation society for years. Champion data has him in the top 15 players atm ... had a stat with Shed in 23 goal assists and leading all comers by a mile - next best was on 15. Look out bandwagon ... here they all come!
