what a load of rubbish - he's usually spoiling someone elses bloke as well as his own. He's the most honest player in our side.

Agree. Morris is the king of coming off his man and going to protect the loose man. Team footballer. We need five more with this thinking.

One of the standouts of the year.

Excellent first season.

I find it funny that people crticise a defender that has 3 goals kicked on them.

Most games one of the forwards kicks 3 or 4. This doesn't necessarily mean the defender played poorly. Usually it is more a function of a forward doing their job when their midfiled provides them with plenty of ball.

Anyway I'm not potting him, more pointing out the general trend with 'new' players that supporters tend to downplay their flaws at first, e.g. Raines & King.
I reckon it was the opposite with King.

Has had a fabulous season but did get stitched up yesterday

Has happened a few times. Love his courage and work ethic but still gets too many goals kicked on him imo. Does ok on the lead but he looks lost in marking contests.

I remember watching Geelong a few years back and every time one of their defenders went to create a "3rd man in" situation, every other player behind him moved up 1 step (opponent) to cover each other. Even the opposite side wingman would go down back to cover if needed. This is the level we need to get to - working as one unit naturally without having to be told to do it. Geelong were brilliant at it. This will then give blokes like Morry (who can run & kick) the confidence to attack the game more.

Like all of our defenders at the moment, he needs to tighten up a bit.

Thought Monfries beat him last week and Ebert this year.

But he has had a very good season for a first year player. Should be a part of the back 6 for many years to come. Needs some fine tuning though.

I think Morris is better suited to the ground ball small forwards like Milne, Betts etc. Morefrees and Ebert are marking smalls. We need to find a defender for these guys whether that be Dea, Batch or even Grimes when he comes back.

I think he has the tools to play the smaller marking forwards and beat them hands down. He is a great mark himself. His problem is that he tends to go for the mark himself too much rather than destroying it.

I'm sure he will improve his judgement and spoil more often, which will make him an even more effective player.

No doubt in my mind Morris was carrying an injury for alot of the game.

I think Greg Mellor mentioned before the game that he has been carrying some shoulder soreness for most of the season.

That has been the problem, he has played through with what most couldn't.

Great first season and with his shoulder fixed and a bit more support back there, he is a lock for the next 5-7 years.

He does try to cover other players direct opponents pretty often and as a result it looks like he wasnt manning up. Also we cant really praise a bloke for going all out in a contest if he wins that contest only to knock him if the opposite happens.
