Steve Morris F/S

Noticed that in the first game Checkside. A few times he threw himself at the contest and ended up on the ground out the other side of the stoppage without collecting anyone or the ball - like a human gutter ball. I'm just about ready to put that down to first game nerves and over-enthusiasm now. He seems to be choosing his times to go to ground a bit better.

:hihi classic

Been really happy with his last 2 games hasnt done much wrong. I actually am delighted when there is a disputed ball anyehere near him as i know he will be total despardo make opposition earn it. If all our players had same commitment we'd be super team. Dont know why Malthouse keeps bagging him without just reason

Has certainly gotten better but still going to ground a bit to much to my liking. He'll get better with experience, he's only played 4 games and has improved it a heap.

This bloke could easily slot into the midfield and do a job on a Judd or a Murphy. Morris would be a great tagger unlike *smile*. Has the pace and determination to do a job on anyone IMO. Give him a run in the midfield next year when our backline has settled.

Actually his enthusiasm along with Ellis and the composure shown by Jake of the Batchelor kind has been a revelation, at the beginning of the year we were concerned about our defense which is being led by Mr Microphone Alexander that hasn't been an issue so far.

It's our forwards that are a great concern, let's face it Pia is leading the goal kicking

He dosent man up now, what makes you think he can playing in the midfield.
As for next year, hopefully Dmac starts playing down there.

I would give him a look at the midfield this year depending on match ups. Dea can come in and take his spot in the back half if required.

They highlighted him on OTC last night. He was ball watching when he should have been shoulder to shoulder with Christensen when the Cats scored their last goal. Roos wasn't too critical of him because he said it is a common mistake with inexperienced defenders but he has to learn from it.

This is the 2nd post recently talking about McDOnald playing again. Have I missed something?

I agree. Definitely worth a shot, maybe this year.

Because it would be his job to man up.

IMO he sometimes takes a risk and runs off his man and then gets burnt on the turnover. If it's his job to tag though, surely he will tag.

I saw that and was a bit non plussed because I was rapt with his game but that was out of character for him.

After the goal they show his face and he knows he made a mistake so he will learn from that experience.

yes i agree, he didnt have a really high possession game but his defence was really good I thought.

OTC highlighted that incident, Jack's poor performance , the lack of output of our key forwards, Bartel's desperation and how Geelong found a way to win. I came out of it wondering whether we had been beaten by 15 goals and I had missed something ???

sounds like PRE's gameday thread.

Understand that view but I took it as OTC collective relief Geelong managed to win, preferable to more customary patronising ‘congratulations’ on the RFC nearly winning.
