Steve Morris F/S

just love how hard he is at the contest, will eventually start to make opposition players second guess themselves and hear footsteps because they know a battering ram is charging in at the ball

I watched the game on the (appalling) fta broadcast, and thought that Morris read the play very well in some situations, and positioned himself beautifully on occasionsfor smothers, takles and feedouts. The player who was the antithesis of this was Vickery, very few hard ball gets, stepping away from contests, naff all effort. And don't get me started on Newmo....disappointing would be an understatment. A wins a win though and it was great to hear the song, even if it was only once before the commentators switched to the pre Bummers/GC gushfest.

I am eating my words Steve is going very well indeed. Good luck and glad you have proved me wrong so far.

I love his attack on the footy, heard Malthouse mentioning his skill as an issue. we will see I suppose. But as it goes 3 games in, cannot fault his efforts.

I would put him on Chapman next game as this will be good for his football ed. Morris might even be able to get under his skin as Chappy is a grumpy old man these days.

Good game from Morris, played within his limitations which is all you can ask of a guy who isn't as polished as some. Reminds me a bit of Adam McPhee, i get the impression he likes the tough stuff and won't be taking a backward step throughout his career.

The more he play's the more he'll adapt, but after 3 games i'm liking what i see.Tough and relentless with his approach at the footy.Has that steely resolve to succeed.Well done! :clap

Now that Steve is establishing himself in the side, I think it's important that we come up with a nickname for the lad. How about Slippery, named after 1980s Rugby League legend Steve 'Slippery' Morris, father of Brett and Josh. I think our Steve might have the speed to justify the nickname.

What about Snowy?

Agreed Dave. Once he finds his feet and gets the confidence that he belongs, I think he'll go from strength to strength.

He's been servicable. I hope his kicking and decision making improves because I do enjoy his attack on the ball.

Well it noticeably improved from game 2 to 3.

Minor, we should call him Minor. His old man would agree.
Maybe it should be Woody. The Morris company had a little woody type Morris Minor van way back when.

IMHO easily his best game, looks ok against the less pressure that the poorer teams put on, tests will come hope he is up to it as his aggression is awesome

Agree CC. Has adjusted well to the pace of AFL. looks a solid pickup and definitely an upgrade on the likes of Farmer.
