Steve Morris F/S

Regardless of where I stand on his selection I like Steve Morris.
I like that he gives 100%.
I like that his Dad played for the club. I love that he's absolutely invested in the club.
He's a strong individual & strikes me as a great fella.

Yeah I feel the same way.

I feel like it's a bit of a shame he hasn't been able become a solid AFL footballer.

I thought he gave back the photos, and I might be right.

Steve Morris has the unique ability to garner more go-away heat than X-pac. This makes him highly valuable in his post-footy career as the guy to finally get Roman Reigns over as a babyface. Huge money in this.

Dimma keeps pushing him because he has WWE shares.

After his 4 goals & playing in our winning VFL side against the Cats
Lets welcome Morro back into the side :happy :happy
Theres no denying it he will be back this week 8-

The worrying fact is that he's still playing forward in the VFL which means that someone STILL thinks he can cut it as a forward.....

There is no enough smarky analysis on PRE

Totally agree. All the keyboard warriors on here that revel in slagging the guy off ad nauseam, doubt they've ever got close to AFL level. Morris had to come back from a serious leg injury, takes time to really get your form and confidence back. He seems to be kicking well again now too.

Horses for courses. If you seriously want the team to play finals in 2017, I'd be wanting to see him picked to play defensive forward on Docherty and/or Simpson this week. I don't care about anything other than beating the Blooos this week. You have to stop their easy run out of HB; Docherty and Simpson set up their rebounds. Our other small forwards are either: not big, tough, strong or experienced enough; or not fit enough to play out a game fully; or lack the balance of both defensive and attacking skills.

All I care about is winning this game; we have a much better chance of doing it with a tough, four-quarter DF like Morris.

I don't believe 'tough' as a sole virtue warrants Starjump Steve's selection in the seniors, indeed, it does not warrant any one being in the side if that's the limit of their abilities. He is an appalling decision maker and panicker and it was on display before his injury. If he is selected this week (and I don't care how well he's going in the VFL) we will lose. He's not up to it and he, like Sam Lloyd was last weekend against the Swannies, a liability. I want another new kid to get a go, not one of our rejects (this includes Maric as well. Great fella but waaaaaay past it). I don't want any substandard ghosts of 2016. I don't care if we don't make the 8 - just want to see new blood being rotated through the team.

What is this lunacy?

Have people already forgotten his last game?

Heres a reminder....

Description Date Opponent Result K HB D M G B
Round 6 30th Apr Adelaide Loss 64-140 5 3 8 1 0 0

Morris FFS!

140 kicks is a fair effort.

Agree evo. Rather see Tyson Stengle get a go.

Nope according to Dimmer supporters will go to :sleeping if were close to winning by 10+ goals thats what Stengle may bring
We need Morro in the side defense, defense its all about d...... let me hear it!

You know things are bad when the "ins" being touted are Morris and Maric.

Dimma disagrees!! Welcome back Morris. If he gets selected i hope we lose by 90 and Dimma gets the sack.

One of the things the VFL side thrived on last year, when McRae finally got the players to gel, was forward pressure. From Butler, Castagna and Aarts. As well as Towner from time to time. We even had Rioli for a game. (Scary *smile*.) It was good to watch and made me very optimistic about our prospects at VFL level this year.

The thing is that Butler and Castagna levelled up and so the buzz in the magoos went. (It happened in other positions too. We so miss Kane Ablett jr.)

In 2017 the AFL side now has the forward buzz. And the VFL side is slow and ploddy. So McRae is forced to try Morris forward. To get the defensive pressure Mozza was unable to provide singlehandedly at AFL level in the past. Then at VFL level Morris kicks four goals. (Something of the dad there.)

There's some insane circularity to it all. Anyway. Good news for the reserves (and for those who like a bet) where we desperately need a goal kicker. And a bit more buzz.

Downsizing might be just the thing for the VFL side for the rest of the year.

Hear hear.
If Morris gets a gig this week we deserve to lose.
We need to develop for the future ,not promote players who have been tried repeatedly and failed.
