Steve Morris F/S

I was one of the few that saw the benefit in bringing Morris in this week. But my support was him playing as a defender to fee Grimes up to.play tall. When i saw him line up fwd my support was immediately withdrawn. His worst footy in his career was the year we tried to make him a fwd. He played his first games in the VFL down back. We had Stengle playing well in VFL who could have played that fwd role.

Silly team selection by the match committee. If this is what is to come I can see us winning few more games this year

One of the key issues I have with Morris is his footing. Hafey use to tell him all the time too. "Stay on you feet ! "

Throws himself into a tackle at every opportunity and constantly goes to ground. He is immediately out of the next nearby contested play, only a metre or so away. RFc becomes a man down and the opposition will move the ball out.

Damn frustrating, nothing has changed, year after year. Hopefully we see the end of him this year. Nothing personal just frustrating as a footballer to watch.

Yeah agree with this. Not up to it. Never really has been.

he and Hunt make it very hard for me to rate Hardwick.

It is a complete joke that either of them play league footy.

A joke

To be fair going to ground (losing your feet) is a plague at Richmond. The amount of times we lose a contest because our players are either lazy/stupid/too enthusiastic or unco is ridiculous.

Steve Morris has the heart that we wish all our footballs would possess.

Unfortunately in today's game heart alone does not get you or your team anywhere......

Steve is at best a solid VFL player and should be considered as such.....

We aren't going to win a flag this year so play C Ellis, C Menadue, Bolton or promote Stengel and play them for the experience and what they can learn.

The days of the Steve Morris types getting a game at AFL level are long gone.

Bottom of the stat sheet yet again not sure what his percentage tim on ground was but a typically poor return from a player who played his last decent game for us in 2014

Disgraceful decision to play him tonight. To think he could even make a difference was a joke.

This has Dimma written all over it.

I dunno to think Elton would have made a difference is a joke. Mind you bringing him in to play forward was a stupid move.

The worst thing about Morris being played is it was the perfect time to give a young bloke like Garthwaite a debut.
Just doesnt make any sense to play Morris as a small forward when we clearly needed more height down back.

Morris stats for the game: 8 disposals ( 3 kicks and 5 handballs) (disposals by quarter 1.1.3.3), 3 contested and 5 uncontested, 62% DE.

139 metres gained, 1 mark, 6 tackles, 23 pressure acts, 1 score assist, 76% Game time.

Had the equal lowest disposals for anyone on the ground with Castagna.

Was the score assist the tap on to Lynch?

Were you watching the game?
Houli disgraceful
Grigg was he playing?
Ellis worse fumbling *smile* in the comp

I often wonder whether you do. My comment was about comparing them to Morris, not about how well or otherwise they played in this game. Grigg was far from the worst, named in a couple of papers bests as the best of a pretty poor bunch.

2:50 to go in the 2nd qtr.
We have just kicked the last goal to get back to 14 pts.
He is playing defensive fwd.
We need to close out the half and regather ourselves.

We have great defensive setup in the 50 so the Crows chip it across the middle of the ground with an extra player and Morris and Daniel Butler must cover the extra player and cause a long kick in. His decision to not run on and cover Brodie Smith (who strolls in to 53m and kicks the goal) but to turn back and cover Jake Kelly who is 80m from goal and completely out of play is atrocious. He will cop a pasting for that in the review.
Forward pressure is not just about effort. You have to have the ability to identify the obvious.

Saw this and couldn't believe how he could possibly make that decision. Someone mentioned earlier, 5 and 1 but doesn't feel like it because of this selection. Not to mention I'm still petrified Hunt may come back in because we need big strong bodies after being shown up by the crows.

He should never play another game for Richmond. Love his endeavour, but he doesn't have a role - he can't defend and has no forward nous.
