The AFL needs to bring in a rule like fed politics where you cant join a company/club that benefits from your decision making for a period of time after you leave you job.
Guys like Pyne and Robb had to wait before getting well paid jobs from companies they gave money to while in politics. Surely Hocking should have to wait too.

Umpiring Director Hayden Kennedy departs mid year, now Hocking. Is anyone in the media asking why these 2 influential positions at AFL headquarters were vacated so quickly? Is the turnover at these 2 highly influential posts considered normal?

Wonder if the umpires head would have left mid season if he knew Hocking was leaving? No one ever really got to the bottom of why he left

Article in todays West Australian newspaper by Mark Robinson says SHocking saved the game from stagnating with 6 -6-6 & standing the mark rules. IMO the only thing he stopped stagnating was the Catters by prolonging geriatric careers.
Reading and listening to the media they clearly don’t want to antagonise city hall by going hard on Hocking, there’s subtle digs and alluding and excuses at/for Shocking but no one genuinely asking hard questions etc.
Notice how his resignation and move back to Geelong comes right after he is sure he has nobbled us for 2021. He was dirty we did not rollover last year for the ‘Little Master’ and ‘Clench’.
Actually I don't always agree with Thomas but he made some pretty interesting observations in that series of whacks he delivered. .....
