Steve Hocking

What has happened to Stack. He might get 4 weeks as Hocking's last action.

The fawning over him in the media tonight will be nauseating.

Surely Gill wasn't being serious with what he stated in the AFL article, if he believes half of the crap that he said then he can go aswell.

"
"It is a relentless job, but Steve has made an enormous contribution to the AFL and the wider AFL industry during his time in the role," McLachlan said.

"He is a values-driven leader who has brought calm, confidence and consistency to the operations of football across the AFL, AFLW, VFL, VFLW and NAB Leagues and his approach is much respected and valued by his colleagues and the wider industry.

"He has brought improvement to every aspect of the game, whether it's the growth of the NAB AFLW competition, the expansion of mental health and welfare initiatives across the clubs, rule changes that have opened up the game and made it more spectacular, the development and implementation of the ARC and the ongoing development of umpires.

"The football being played in this AFL season, and the earlier AFLW season, have each been exceptional and that is a testament to the work of Steve and his team.

"This is a great opportunity for Steve and the Geelong Cats for the next step in his career and he goes with our gratitude and blessings and I know he will continue to contribute to the industry in his role at clubland."

Yeah spectacular football, improved every aspect, opened up the game, exceptional. Did I mention higher scores? Oh, no I didn't.

All this reflected in the massive crowds the game is attracting, where they can't even sell all the tickets to a game when the maximum allowed is 25K.

Face it, SHocking has screwed the game and people are not bothering to turn up any more. Even with COVID taken into account the crowds are woeful, along with the game.

Hope someone decent can get the job and fix the mess.

AFLX & lowest scoring in 50 years among his list of achievements.

Still don't know the reasons for why the Umpire's boss quit mid season either..

I am usually not one for conspiracy theories, but I wonder to what extent Geelong have benefited from the stand rule.

They certainly like to move the ball via short passing.

If the Cats win the flag in 2021, I will have my eyebrows raised.

Didn’t find this surprising at all

“Hocking revealed the only time McLachlan overruled a decision was around the potential extended goal-square at the end of 2018.

"He was very strong on that, don't changing any of the lines. He's very strong around the traditions of the game, which I value and certainly respect," Hocking said.

"I remember the conversation when I rolled in and said 'we’re going to double the goal-square in size', it was a bit of fun between us."”

‘Brad Scott already a front runner’, according to ch.7

These are not the droids that you’re looking for…

When callers were asking Derwayne Russell today what has he achieved in his tenure and all he could bring up is the introduction of the 6-6-6 rule. FMD it’s mind boggling how he managed to stay in the role for 4 years.
