Steve Hocking

I'm truly conflicted whether Benny should go for the AFL CEO's role and sort out the mess at AFL House, or whether to say *smile* 'em and keep Benny at Tigerland where he can keep making us a better club.
The won't dare invite Gale in. Imagine the sh!t he'd find in the minutes!

Of course Brad Scott will replace him.
FMD that would be a stuffen disaster. Makes sense why the flog was on the Front Bar now. Self promotion from his manager and the AFL at its best.

Going to Geelong as CEO and player?
Fits the age bracket down there.

I heard somewhere that Gale is far better regarded by fellow club CEOs and Presidents than he is at AFL house. Not a member of the boys club probably.
Gale is way too ethical for the AFL job.
imagine the possum poo he'll be cleaning up around the office!

Surely Gill wasn't being serious with what he stated in the AFL article, if he believes half of the crap that he said then he can go aswell.

"
"It is a relentless job, but Steve has made an enormous contribution to the AFL and the wider AFL industry during his time in the role," McLachlan said.

"He is a values-driven leader who has brought calm, confidence and consistency to the operations of football across the AFL, AFLW, VFL, VFLW and NAB Leagues and his approach is much respected and valued by his colleagues and the wider industry.

"He has brought improvement to every aspect of the game, whether it's the growth of the NAB AFLW competition, the expansion of mental health and welfare initiatives across the clubs, rule changes that have opened up the game and made it more spectacular, the development and implementation of the ARC and the ongoing development of umpires.

"The football being played in this AFL season, and the earlier AFLW season, have each been exceptional and that is a testament to the work of Steve and his team.

"This is a great opportunity for Steve and the Geelong Cats for the next step in his career and he goes with our gratitude and blessings and I know he will continue to contribute to the industry in his role at clubland."

We live in a truly dystopian world now.
What a corrupt and shady organisation the AFL is.

Yep, too straight and fair for the AFL. Backstabbing and corrupt boys club members need only apply.

Taking off Richmond glasses for a moment I would be interested if there are any out there who think the footy this year is a better spectacle.
Due to covid we are watching more games on tv and there have only been a handful to grab my attention...usually a close finish.
So many other games resemble training circle work until there is a mistake or a turnover then a bit of frentic play.
Umpires are having too much influence and I yearn for a return to our games roots...contest/randomness/unpredictability.
I hope the damage this guy has done with rule changes can be undone.

Good *smile* riddance you corrupt, incompetent useless piece of *smile*. I hope you *smile* up the handbaggers as much as you have *smile* up the game we all grew up loving. Make sure your toadies down at that shithole of a ground STAND in your presence. *smile* off and *smile* off now, don’t wait till Thursday

Nothing but garbage corporate speak.

The very people that have implemented changes that none asked for are then commenting on their efficacy.

Is this some type of elite management technique where you determine your KPI’s, and then your mate who sits near you determines whether you have ‘nailed it’.

lock it in Eddy, i can see this being worse then shocking
Jeebus; being a failed coach that’s then given a cushy irrelevant role by the AFL is then somehow qualified to be a GM within a billion dollar organisation.

He must have nailed the short courses they got him to do.

Surely, somewhere there is actually a competent, unbiased, qualifed applicant for the role? Or are we just not casting the net far enough?
All qualified applicants emails will get accidentally deleted and never make the interview list. Brad Scott will be in charge of the shortlisting process so those getting an interview will be: B Scott, Dipper, C Ling, P Bullus and K McIntosh

Hocking probably applied for the Cats job, after being told that he's over qualified for the AFL job.

As an aside, was the Cats job advertised?

We could very well get worse, especially if Brad Scott gets the job. The timing of this is really odd. I wonder if Hocking’s got himself in some sort of trouble and they’ve shuffled him out the door so they can deny all knowledge.

He was always getting the Geesook job. I heard several months ago he had it.

When the AFL commis finally got wind of it they clearly asked him to leave. Guaranteed it wasn't Gilligan that told him to move on.
