State League Recruits

From his game against Coburg his kicking Aces. Its still dodgy. Cant get away with it in the backline anymore.

Is still pretty slight as well.

Even worse he reminded leysy a bit of McGuane on the ground. ;D

Thanks for the feedback mate.

The last bit says it all. ;D

He is a super athlete. Didn't really understand the game when he was on the Bulldogs rookie list. But he has put on a lot of size in the upper body since going to Box Hill. Has great closing speed. All the Box Hill backs run hard when they have the ball. Boumann is the same. And can get involved in chains of play. He may get another shot. Again, another type that I wouldn't mind having on the rookie list. They are out there.

He was on the senior list not the rookie list. Athletically he is gifted but his application to the requirements of being on an AFL list is questionable. When his mind is on the job he can be a productive player but unless he matures a lot he won't live up to his ability.

He's very competitive in marking contests but isn't a great decision maker.

I follow Claremont as much as I can, so I know the most about their players.

Claremont

Blackwell will definately get picked up, but not by us. If Dimma is true to his mantra of recruiting guys who can kick, then Blackwell is a pass. The only knock on him I would have is that he is not a good kick.

Wilkes is an Albany boy, and I have heard it from a very reliable source that he is likely to go to GWS if no one else nabs him. He would be worth a look at for us if available very very late, but would only be a stop gap.

Alroy Gilligan will surely get a spot on a list. Been playing very well, and looks to have put on a bit of muscle.

Kane Mitchell is another who probably should get a chance, but at 174cm might be considered too small. Really hard running and hard at it midfielder with good disposal and can kick goals.

The Claremont bloke I reckon we should have a look at is Tom Lee. Originally he was drafted by Adelaide at pick 60 in 2008 as an athletic forward. Was definately a longer term prospect at the time, and never seemed very settled in Adelaide. From what I have heard, needed to do some growing up. Delisted and came back to WA this year. Claremont have him listed at 194cm and weighing 96 kgs. Very quick for a bloke his size and with good hands, and has certainly improved his kicking. I'd actually recruit him as a defender, I reckon he could play back quite nicely. Certainly the type of bloke I'd rather have on the rookie list than Brad Miller.

Saw Claremont smash Peel Thunder yesterday and made a few notes.

Blackwell's kicking definately rules him out for us. He has absolutely no left foot, which I already knew, but yesterday he got exposed by a Peel player who kept pushing him onto his left. Clearly a tactic the coach sent his player out with, and Blackwell's effectiveness was greatly reduced. If that can happen to you at WAFL level, then no hpe at AFL level.

I like the look of Tom Lee more and more. His kicking was very solid yesterday, and he is clearly above WAFL level.

Great debut from Marley Williams. Played State U18s for WA this year, and looks a prospect. His physique is much like Jake Kings. Short legs with a low centre of gravity and looks physically very strong. Good disposal and a defender. 181cms might be an issue? Would be worth a punt as a small defender I'd have thought on what I saw yesterday.

Kane Mitchell just keeps confirming he is a skillful player, but he is just too small for AFL.

Did u happen to see the colts game?

Unfortunately no. I enjoy watching the colts, but couldn't get there that early. Saw the last qtr of the reserves. Claremont smashed Peel by about 215 points. Peel only scored one goal, right near the end.

Someone you are interested in playing?

Was wondering if u saw Manson kick 8.4. Would be keen on him to play Vickery's role and Vickery to play no.1 ruck in 2 or 3 years if we feel he will adjust to Melbourne life.

Sam Dwyer is a player I would be looking at for a rookie list spot. Liked what I saw again today. 2 years ago he was playing very good footy before being struck down with a knee injury.

Watched him very closely in the GF. Again liked what I saw. I would be happy for us to get him pre listed for a late draft pick.

There's a lot of "possibles" from the Port side: Dwyer, Pinwill, Valenti, Rose, Batsanis, Bouman, Lynch.......

Boumann plays for Box-Hill. Wouldn't mind Dwyer, Batsanis, Lynch for cheap

Dwyer the pick of them for leysy.

Would have taken him 2 years ago.

Batsanis won't cut it at AFL level. Not good enough.

Same goes for Valenti.

I would be looking towards the WAFL this year.

Valenti is in his place at the moment. A dominant VFL player.

I think if the draft is seen as weak, the WAFL will throw up a few mature age players this year.

They held their showpiece North versus Soutch game the other day. It attracts a lot of AFL talent scouts.

No love for Saad? He's had a great season and he has tested brilliantly.
Mohr's sprinting results must have lifted his rating

GWS bound for sure isn't he? Would be a good small forward for us.

Waylen Manson now playing for the Waratahs in Darwin (alongside Fev this weekend.) he kicked 8 goals last week.
it will be interesting if/where he gets drafted.
