Sports Quiz

Thanks Red.

In the final seconds of game 2 of the 1984 NBA finals, the Lakers were up, but a Laker player passed the ball away to Gerald Henderson of Boston who put the layup in and the Celtics won. Who was the Laker player who turned the ball over?

Oooh....I know this....I'm just trying to get thoughts of Larry Bird's famous steal out of my mind so I can give the correct answer.

There was some passing between Worthy and Johnson if I remember rightly, but I can't remember which one made the pass that got stolen. Given Magic doesn't have any famous blunders to his name (that I know about), I've gotta presume it was James Worthy ?

Gee Boston and the Lakers had good teams back then. Bird, McHale, the Chief, Magic, Byron Scott, Worthy, Kareem etc.

Will basketball ever be that good again ?

You're right Red, it was James Worthy, magic would'nt be doing that. Those series back then are legendary, in fact the 80's was easily the best era of basketball. Today's basketball has nothing on it, I'm a massive fan of basketball, but I've gotta say, today's basketball bores me to shreds. Ever since MJ retired...........

I've been dying to ask this question……

I won a Grand Slam event not once, but twice. Within two years of winning it for that second time, I was committed to a mental institution where I spent most of the rest of my life and never participated in my sport at any competitive level ever again.

Who am I ?

He was only 24 when he was committed to a mental institute (i.e. about the same age as Bubbletown3121 when he first did a spell in one.)

Won the French Open (Tennis) 1951-2 then ????

Is Tennis the 'competitive' sport referred to ? Not sure any of the major tournaments were referred to as 'grand slam' until well into the open era , late 1960s onwards. Also , thought a 'grand slam' was originally the act of winning the Aust/French/Wimbledon/US Opens in the same calendar, rather just one of those in isolation ?....Eh,no matter. That's my 'bi-centennial moment'....

So,we talking Tennis & male winner of a major in the last 40 years ?
