Well then it must have been Sunderland that got promoted.

Wasn't Lou Macari (ex-MU player the manager at Swindon during some of that kerfuffle ? I saw him play once for Scotland in an international v Nth Ireland at Hampden Park once when I was a kid.)
 
Sunderland is correct (they went straight back down again).

Macari was Swindon manager and one of the key players in the scandal. Fined a grand for bringing the game into disrepute, lost his job at West Ham which he'd taken by the time the allegations broke, but was acquitted of charges stemming from tax irregularities. Swindon chairman Brian Hillier was found guilty and jailed.

First a query. Is this a real "world champion" in something or is it like how the Yanks call their basketball and baseball winners the "World Champions"?
 
C'mon you blokes. I'm new to this thread and compared with the difficult questions that you've asked before, I would have thought this is an easy one ?

From the father son combo, as I've said, one of them was a world champion (not in athletics).

The other was a successful NFL player who won 2 Super Bowl rings........ with two separate teams who are considered arch enemies.
 
I'm surprised. Its not that hard. If you know the NFL, (or if you knew the other sport concerned) then you should be able to get this. Do you want me to name the other sport ? Do you want another hint ?

(I wish you'd hurry up. I have another question that is far more interesting.)
 
Ok Red, I'm sure this is right, his name was on the tip of my tongue all day.

It's Ken Norton a world champion boxer, and his son Ken Norton Junior who was a legend at the 49ers, although I can't remember who he won his other superbowl with. I think it was Dallas?

Correcto Peter Landy ! Well done.

Ken Norton Snr. was the WBC Champion of the world (by default somewhat) and Ken Norton Jnr. won 2 Super Bowls with the Dallas Cowboys and SF 49'ers as a star linebacker. Remember Ken Norton in the movie Mandingo ? Heh heh heh...soft porn at its best.
