It's a heck of a side to make your debut against when it's one way traffic out of the middle but if it's decided he's not up to it so be it.

Agree that is a tough first up start but he isn't up to AFL standard. Wasn't 18 months ago and nothing tonight suggested otherwise. Good honest trier and a great VFL full back.

Re: Big Cat to play this weekend

Good luck to him, and congratulations on now being an AFL player.

But, is not up to AFL standard. A great, honest, battling VFL full back. Those who have seen alot of Coburg matches in the last 2 seasons would know what he is capable of.

Was surprised we rookied him, and even more shocked when he was picked this week.

Understand he was up against it tonight on a good player, who was getting good delivery in a team playing well, but he is not the way forward.

Has anyone found out why he pullled out? Cannot be a form change.

PS. The Cat has had 5 kicked on him.
Collins missed today with illness.

Re: Big Cat to play this weekend

Thought he was one of our beter players. Scarlett would have had six kicked on him today. Every goal was from a lace out mark 40+ out. He cleaned up well and disposal was good. Deserves another look next week.

im with you bud while i dont think hes the long term future he did enough to keep his spot. i like the structure if nothing else.

Re: Big Cat to play this weekend

I think that we played him because Rawlings has a bond with him sue to his time at Coburg and thought it would be nice to add his name to the list of league footballers. Congratulations Silvester, now back to the VFL where you are a great backman

The backline structure did look a lot better today on the little I saw of the game. They are a rare as hens teeth, but a good big body fullback down there will make our defence much better. It would give us the options to be creative, ie. Thursfield on Milne.

kosi got to kick those goals because the midfield delivered the footy with laser precision

and ours was no existant. Turnovers and a lack of pressure on the opposition ball carrier kill you.

Re: Big Cat to play this weekend

did get beaten by kosi, just outmarked to easily but as a first gamer showed a little with 18 possies not sure if he will be retained, personally i wouldnt retain him as id rather get a young kid in at 18 yrs of age, we need as many as we can get our hands on in this draft, inc the roookie spots too....

I agree also. Thought for a first up game he was solid and allowed Moore to be free'd up to play as the loose man in the hole. He seemed to have reasonable skills and was one of the only players prepared to kick long down the line rather then handpass to a flatfooted team mate in our back 50.

I like the idea of having a tall versatile back 6 and even if he doesnt become the next SOS did more then enough to get a run next weekend. Give him a run of 3-4 games to see if he can survive the end of season cull.

Re: Big Cat to play this weekend

Thought he did OK tonight. It was a pleasant change to have a Richmond backman who was not dwarfed by his opposite number! Definitely worth another few games.

Re: Big Cat to play this weekend

The big cat is one of a few Tiger who can hold his head up high after tonight's performance.

Re: Big Cat to play this weekend

Not up to AFL standard, was out paced by the iceberg himself in Kosi.

Lord knows what will happen to him on a quicker opponent. Which 95% of them are.

Had his chance, is now forever known as playing AFL, well done but good bye.

I will forever know him as just a VFL player who was given a chance by the match committee who between them struggle to make up a whole brain.

Re: All the best to the big cat

he was in our top 10.....he actually looked better than all the other players his size such as

mcguane, moore, riewoldt and thursfield

Re: All the best to the big cat

Did anyone notice he was one of the few (possibly only one) who actually KICKED it long out of the back line? He hit a target most times too.

Not really, but I did notice that he was beaten in 80% of the one on one marking contests and even beaten several times on the lead by Kosi.....not up to this level.
I can appreciate giving the bloke a run to reward his form in the 2's but should he have been on the list anyways at 24? You don't develop leg speed with age.
