Re: Big Cat to play this weekend

ill back Jades judgement before anyone else here on PRE so ill wait until the lad plays and reserve my judgement until after the game
good luck to him, we have nothing to lose
to those who want bowden instead.....phew try looking forward and not backwards
without taking a chance on a player we would never have played nahas and others

The one type Bowden plays well on are the bigger, true KP types.

Maybe 3/4 years ago that was true.

These days he'd have his hands more than full with Kosi in terms of size, speed and strength.

Silvester might well not be up to it we shall see but neither is Bowden as a key defender.

Get over it Scooper, Joel's time is coming to an end.

I'll get over it, it's not the end of the world. But to suggest the Jarrod Silvestor will play tighter is a absurd statement.

I can't believe so many negative comments about a player making his debut for the Mighty Tigers. At least give him a chance to pull his boots on before assasinating him.

I think the negativity is pathological with some of our posters Rosy.

It's hardly 'absurd'.
here here oldie silvestor could hardly be worse than the lamington called bowden

So Jade Rawlings let me understand this. Joel ( leading possesion getter, yardidge gainer, mark taker) Bowden is not good enough yet
Jarrod ( fast as a Richmond revival, versitile as a 6 x 4 trailer full of watermelons) Sylvestor is...... Right?
Oh my God Please make this pain STOP!!!!!
lol typical brightider comment never looks past this week.

Can he play tighter? Certainly. That's why he's the premier VFL defender. He flogs opponents week in week out, being doing it for years.

Will he play tighter? Who knows. That's why he's in the senior side this week, to find out.

Re: Big Cat to play this weekend

Right on. I've said this before, but imagine the outcomes if some our more vitriolic PREenders were coaching the Tiges. Would have expended the list in 4 weeks and sacked 30 of the 38 players every year!!!

It would be good to remember this a TEAM sport and if Jarrod stays close to Kosi, spoils, frustrates and makes his life miserable a la a Presti, our running backs know what to expect, then that is progress

Re: Big Cat to play this weekend

From what I have seen I would rate THE CAT as simply a very good VFL standard defender, however not unhappy to see him get a gig while his on the list, nothing to lose an may unearth an AFL defender ;D, we also may see the emergence of Lace out as a premier key forward :). For me Kels form has been a woory all year so we may as well see what is on the list, for me Posty and co should get games , however not just yet on form.

Re: Big Cat to play this weekend

Good luck to him if he plays. He’s gonna need it.

As Corn Chicken Tiger mentioned, his level is the VFL.

Look he's been selected, it will give him a taste of AFL and it will assist in whether he really wants to do the necessary hard yards to become a permanent AFL footballer, after all only he can decide that and do the work required.

Personally I think he has made the decision that he wants to be an AFL footballer. Whether he has the capacity to do so is another thing.

yeah he can join the other 100 odd fotballers from the 1100 odd who have managed just one game for the club.

If that is such a meaningless thing, maybe you could detail how many games you have played for the Tigers.

Yeah, I know, it is a cheap shot isn't it. But still, not quite as cheap as begrudging a guy who has worked damn hard toward trying to play AFL football for a number of years a taste of it.

not begrudging him a game at all just stating a fact.if you read posts i have already said hes probably got reward for perseverence and no other reason. good luck to him. hes more deserving than a lot of the regular blokes.
personally i would like to see blokes getting games who will be part of the long term future.

Personally I don't think he'll make it, but no one will ever know if he isn't at least given a game.

Re: Big Cat to play this weekend

Can see it now will play an ok game and get a contract. Then he will stay on the list for the next three years before,
we work out he is not up to it and delist him. ::) ::) ::)

Craig McCrae on Jarrod and Joel's games last week (snippets from Eye of The Tiger)

Jarrod Silvester
Clearly one of the best players on the ground. Continues to attack both the footy and his opponent hard. Kept a quality forward in Adrian Bonaddio goalless. Also provided good drive out of defence for us.

Joel Bowden
Showed terrific professionalism coming back to Coburg and great leadership with his attack on the footy. Played his role extremely well, having 27 possessions off a wing and through the middle of the ground.

Jarrod might be being rewarded with a game, being given a chance to show his wares or it might have been a new match up to consider seeing he played well as a defender last week at Coburg.

Joel played a different role well, and I hope he's back in soon, but he certainly isn't a full back which is where Jarrod has been selected.
