Re: Big Cat to play this weekend

Let the guy play and see what he's got. I doubt he's the man to take our backline to greatness but he's on the list, we're 2nd last so what have we to lose? But somehow I think he's the "Tristen Cartledge" of 2009.

Re: Big Cat to play this weekend

Maybe playing him to see what he has got or maybe playing him because on form at VFL level he has earned a game. One of the criticisms the players had of TW apparently was that he was playing players that didn't deserve games and wasn't playing players who based on Coburg form did.

FWIW IMO the Cat won’t make it as a senior AFL player but he has earned a crack based on his VFL form.

Re: Big Cat to play this weekend

I do agree WT, but the rule seems to fall down when you consider the other two inclusions this week. ;)

And I hope they stick to it and if Bowden continues to slay them at Coburg he gets a recall before his send off game later this year.

Agree. Joel had a great report from McCrae and was named second best, after Clarke but didn't earn a recall. Kingy had a reasonable report named 5th best so probbaly warranted his selection. JON had a shocker of a report, "struggled to impact" "had little influence" yet was selected ahead of Cogs who was named in the best in McCrae's report. I wonder if the coaches from both clubs communicate or if form isn't a major consideration when it comes to selection.

King and JON are irrelevant anyway as there is only the one change. Emergencies aren't always selected on form. Selection often happens if their is an injury cloud over a similar player named in the starting 22.

Cogs and Bowden could have been BOG with 40 touches each last week but who were they going to replace from the 22 that beat WC?

Re: Big Cat to play this weekend

It's good to see the big cat get his chance after good form in the VFL. I hope he does well.
It's good to see that Jade Rawlings is taking this stance, that if you perform well in the VFL you will get your chance in the AFL. I'm not sure how much of a longterm player he will become. But he has put on the kg, and is a bigger body for our back 6 this week.
Good luck for the game Jarrod!

All the best to the big cat

Just would like to congratualate Sylvester on his first game for the tiges today, and hope all and sundry whatever their thoughts on his listing get behind him and lets see what he's got to offer
Jade is obviously doing the professional aproach and playing people on merrit and what they can bring to the matchups and not picking sides on name and rep.

Re: Big Cat to play this weekend

1/4 time and Sylvestor has some good stats. 6 kicks 5 hand balls and 46 Supercoach points.

I don't have the stats for the number of fools on this thread that wrote him off before the game started.

Joel would be making a difference? ;D

Maybe. But I wouldn't be wasting a rookie spot on this bloke and I wouldn't dream of giving him a shot in the 1's. And many defended it. ;D

Has anyone found out why he pullled out? Cannot be a form change.

PS. The Cat has had 5 kicked on him.

You're pretty tough Scoop.
It's a heck of a side to make your debut against when it's one way traffic out of the middle but if it's decided he's not up to it so be it.

He's had some mighty good delivery too because our players have let it into the Saints forward line too often and too easily.  Silly to blame Jarrod for that.  He's far from our worse player out there tonight.

He is a backman who was had 5 kicked on him.

Re: Big Cat to play this weekend

Bruce Doull and Jim Jess double teaming Kozi would have had 5 kicked on them tonight.
