Sorry Bully, Hamster is what he is. A very god tap ruckman, who is average body on body and poor around the clearances once his initial tap is done. Basically the alter-ego of Ivan at his best.

This aint gunna change now my man.

His marking can improve Leysy, he is a much better player than this. His work at ground level can also lift a notch, I'm not sure what type of output you are expecting from him but anything resembling his work rate in the first two games is perfectly acceptable.

So far in 5 games, Hampson has given us a fair portion of the knock outs, done little around the ground, and given us nothing in front of the goals.

Like most knock ruckmen, away from the bounce they have dubious value.

But if you don't have one that can negate the opposition's first ruckman, you are in serious trouble.

We are clearly missing a fit Maric.
Hampson will do until Maric is ready to resume.

Rosy, your not taking about Greg Stafford or brad ottens. This bloke is a liability. It was a shocking decision to trade for him.
He will have the same influence on games that Ben Marsh & Trent Knoble gave us. zilch!
Stafford was a good player but played 74 games for us. You want more for the first-round pick we gave up for him. The bloke eventually drafted with that pick is up to 239 and counting. So not a great example of good recruiting.

We would've not drafted Kelly, we would've picked the worse player in that draft

Hahaha. It hurts.

Where down a man every time this guy gets a game.
He didn't get 7 games in a row at Carlton, but this is Richmond

Not doing enough effective work in the ruck or around the ground. His tap outs are OK but would be better if more directed to a Tiger. I suggest that he is rested and replaced by Griff for the next match to see how the TV / Griff ruck combo works. We have Elton in the background to look at if Maric return is delayed

1. I'd give Hampo more time especially to see how he mixes with Eevarn. He's getting bashed a bit too much on here.

Agree TF. I'm not pro Hampson, we wasted a pick IMO, however today he was OK. Bullocked well in the ruck, got some ball to our players instead of just getting hands to the ball, but the biggie for me was his after hit-out work protecting our players with his body. First time I've seem him do it - Maric is a past-master at it and I bet Cotch misses it, but today he got some protection from him.

surely when Ivan is up and running we wont be playing Mr Gale - id rather have the baby when it arrives

Named second best for us on the site that cannot be named. I thought he was ok, but wouldn't have him in our best.

His ruck work is good but he is almost non-existent around the ground and very poor below his knees

Personally I would only be playing him against teams with dominant tap ruck men (i.e. Sandi, Warnock maybe WC rucks as well)

Ironically he is exactly what we needed in the second half of the final last year

Hampson had 7 contested possessions today with 6 clearances, he's getting there.

Yeah he stayed engaged at the contest today. Although that should be the standard.

A ruck man that remains in the contest will always influence the game more than one that can clunk the odd contested mark. Hampson has the tools to be a real force in centre square. Whether he has the competitiveness is another question.
