Re: poll: Shaun Hampson

Wouldn't be in the Tigers' best 22.

Second round pick is an absolute bargain for the Blues. Didn't think he'd attract much at all.

Re: poll: Shaun Hampson

Just showed on ch 7 news that Hampson is a tiger & we'll be giving up our 2nd round pick, disgraceful. Why pay so high? Has massive flaws in his game and we're forgoing getting a very good footballer that we could get at the draft. If FJ and the rest of the recruiting staff have done their homework & identified this years crop of players thoroughly as they should, we surely should be able to get a player of better quality than Hampson with much longer service. Another short-sighted, quick fix approach. A third round pick at most I could just handle, we are paying way overs. Really disappointed.

Re: Shaun Hampson Done Deal

I'm hoping that we know we're getting a second rounder for one of our other trades or compo. Otherwise I can't see us using our first in a trade too.

I also hope Blair continues to impress us with his undervalued player spotting

Re: Shaun Hampson Done Deal

Just on Shaun Hampson,

Yesterday at cricket, I did speak to a keen Carlton supporter who reminded me that Hampson's 2013 season was cut short by a knee injury in early July.

Googling News on Shaun Hampson, just to be sure, I found:

CARLTON'S ruck stocks are down to two with Shaun Hampson tonight ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
The big man hurt his PCL inside the first 10 minutes of Friday night's win against Collingwood following a marking contest with Dane Swan.
Hampson was immediately substituted out of the match and booked in for scans.
The 24-year-old will undergo arthroscopic surgery tomorrow, officially ending his year.
Blues football manager Andrew McKay said it was disappointing.
"It is obviously disappointing for Shaun, as well as for the team. Importantly the surgery will repair the knee and ensure he is available to resume full training prior to Christmas."

So, although the deal is done, I just wanted to make sure everyone knew of Hampson's injury before it becomes an unpleasant surprise.

Dude we are still miles in front on the Grigg collins trade.
Yep. Not miles in front...won the trade. No question about it.

On another note, I can't see Hampson fitting into Richmond's best 22. I rate Vickery much higher, and Maric has been excellent. Giving up a second rounder for a bloke built like a brick shithouse yet couldn't catch a cold, nor kick straight is a bit excessive. Be interesting to see how he goes.

Re: Shaun Hampson Done Deal

It says on afl.com Hawthorn are making a play for him as well.
I don't rate him but if Blair Hartley and the Hawks recruiting team see something in him that's worth going for I'll take their word or it

Re: Shaun Hampson Done Deal

If we get a combined 2nd for White and McGuane through the Free Agency compensation then I'm happy with this. Those 2 were surplus, where as Hampson actually fills a void, whether you like him or not

That was last year Phantom.

His season was ended this year with a knee injury as well, but he was playing VFL.

Re: Shaun Hampson Done Deal

I hope we get something for White and McGuane but based on some compo picks for free agents last year and the fact the AFL have said they would be less generous this year I am skeptical we will get much more than a cheese sandwich.

The hawks are after him?! They have a disgraceful recent history of recruiting players from other teams! ;)

Btw BB we are miles in front on the Grigg deal considering Collins has been delisted.

Re: Shaun Hampson Done Deal

Big men take a while! Hopefully he is coming into that time where he might just become or is about to become a quality ruckman. He is certainly an athlete, can jump & mark. Has been third string behind KRUEZER & WARNOCK so may step up with this opportunity! There have been plenty of late bloomers once they pass the age of 25 who have stepped up. Fingers crossed! The list managers must see something there!

I nearly vomited when I heard them say he will be a Tiger and nearly had a seizure when they said for a 2nd round draft pick.

I really really hope that is not really going to happen. I will cry if so!

Even my scum flatmate laughed when he heard it and is happy he may leave and more so for such a high pick.

Please ..... just No!

Not miles in front. No contest. Tigers won it easily. Been saying that for a long time.

Looked pretty confirmed on the news, stating the pick given and showing him in our jumper. Won't be slashing the wrists over it, just angry/disappointed that we're not making every post a winner, being meticulous and professional with our drafting/picks. This is lazy by the football department and selling us short; its like a near enough's good enough mentality. Im hoping this isnt a done deal for that pick but it looks like that is the case.

Re: Shaun Hampson Done Deal

If we use our second rounder we may as well bring Terry Wallace back.

Hope the rumour is bullshyte as the AFL website state that Hawthorn are interested in him as well as Longer is a long-term option and they need someone ready now Bailey has retired.
