This is where our trouble starts. We need a No 1 ruckman that consistently taps to advantage. Hampson is not able to do that more than 10% of the time so we are on the back foot before we start and our roving gets nowhere. Until we get Maric back I fear that we will not improve game day with our current ruck options
I think I have seen all but one of his games this year and I have not seen the slightest hint of any promise for the future. What is his strength as a footballer?

When/if Maric eventually returns to fitness and the #1 ruckman's role I would drop Hampson and continue to play Griffiths as the #2 ruckman.
Hampson offers nothing around the ground, can't clunk a mark to save himself and won't kick a goal in a month of Sundays.
At least Maric and Griffith in tandem might give the Tigers something, because, to be honest, I'm not sure Hampson is the way of the future.

In Hampson's defence, he apparently was brought in to give us coverage for Maric as a ruckman, and to be honest he probably hasn't done that badly. He gets a lot of hit outs.
Sure, they aren't always to advantage, and he offers little around the ground, but seriously, in previous years we haven't even had that.
You need a ruckman first and foremost to get hitouts. Vickery and Griffiths cannot do that week in week out as first ruckmen. Sure, they are more useful around the ground, but that doesn't cover us coping a hiding in the ruck.
Looks to me the club could see that and were hoping a change of scenery might have bought out the more rounded player in Hampson. Not looking good at this stage I'll agree.

WHat was the rush to give pick 28 away. How can the premiers pick up Mcevoy while we get Hampson. I don't get it.
