Here's a good summary of Hampson's around the ground highlights. There's not too much in the way of tap work but the stats confirm he is one of the better tap ruckman going around.

:vomit :vomit Carlscum highlights.....

One thing I think that has been overlooked with Hampson is the fact that when he played for the Scum, he was the focal point up forward which meant he took the oppositions best backmen. Waite missed 12 games per year, the rest of their big forwards were to young and still developing or they were 5'6. Next year when he is up forward he will be third in line for match ups or he will let Vickery & Jack go one on one which can only help. I've had a quick look but can anyone find an opposition team that have the height in their backline to go one on one with Maric or Hampson??

Hampson to use his spring at the centre bounce, Maric to do the heavy stuff around the ground.

Yes, fair point. He certainly won't be attracting the best defender at Richmond, Jack & Vickery will get most of the attention. When McBean joins the fray, it will be the land of the giants in the forward line, a nightmare prospect for opposition coaches.

I worry it'll be too tall with Jack, Vickery, McBean, Maric and Hampson all running through there. Defensive pressure would be minimal. I can see teams like Hawthorn and North destroying us off half back.

With the exception of Maric, all those guys are quick and agile, there's nothing to suggest they can't exert defensive pressure. For a 203cm beanpole, McBean is in the elite class below his knees, Jack already has good defensive pressure and Hampson is so athletic that height becomes irrelevant. Vickery still has some way to go but I certainly don't see him as a liability. We probably need one elite tackling small forward though, not just for defensive pressure but to crumb the tall timber. Hopefully Banfield can fulfill this role, his tackling is also something I see as a major strength.

in the final against Carlton we just couldn't score goals in the second half, but we finished the game with more inside 50's.
Our forward 50 zone just didn't work out

The club responded accordingly and we recruited

Hampson - ruck /fwd
This keeps Vickery In the forward line
Lennon Gordon Banfield Lloyd are all goal kickers

I back the club to figure out what failed and how to fix it

(Ps: if you don't double check, your I phone can convert all your articulate ideas into utter gibberish )

good call DDT.

I'd also like to think that our delivery into the forward 50 will get better also.

shallower entries hittin up leading targets would be a good start.

If you go back and look at the last quarter where we failed was our delivery into our forward line. Grigg three delivery's into our forward line did not hit a target(50/50's only) Delidio two entries did not hit a target. Pettard two entries hit two targets(yes Pettard) . Jackson two chaos type kicks of which we scored 1 goal Cotchin 1 entry hit his target. Quite a few of our forward entries turned into rebounds and scoring opportunities for Carlton.

I can also see a time (not every game and not against all opposition) where three of the big guys get a 1/3 of the arc each and smart midfielders will be able to pick the best option. One of the three would have to be a mis-match in our favour.

Won't all play together every week I wouldn't think Stylo, plus Jack, TV & allegedly McBean are all very good below the knees.
And just quietly although I worry about North's run I think Hawthorn should be more worried about us destroying them again! ;)

The Griffen not getting any respect in this thread. Quality 200cm beast that is quick, good below his knees and can roost a ball 70m into the wind.

Actually giving him respect in the Griffin thread Baloo!

He's earned it. The Griffin farce is well and truly in play.
