Is that a trick question?
People have short memories, if you want see McEvoy watch the game against us. He was BOG bya mile.
My memory may be playing me false here, but the first time we played St Kilda last year Jack kicked 7 goals and the second time we won by 64 points. Clearly McEvoy had a major influence on both results.

Did he get the 3 votes in the Brownlow, or even 1 vote! Remember, BOG by a mile you said.

Don't sit there comparing McEvoy and Hampson.
99.9% of people would take McEvoy over Hampson.
You must be the .01% :rofl

I'll make it 0.02%.

In reality it's not about whether Hampson or McEvoy or Longer or Mumford is better, it's about what each team needs, can afford & can satisfy the other club.

Would I have traded pick 17 for Mc Evoy? No, not a chance. Good trade for Hawthorn though.

Big0 was better than BigToy McEvoy in that Saints game. Only if we had kept Gus we could of got Hawks 2nd round pick + a player.

Whilst he played pretty well against us, Saints mates of mine were extremely frustrated with McEvoy this season and many felt he had stagnated or gone a step backwards. Don't think they will be all that disappointed to lose him.

Pointed out this arvo that Mc Evoy had one of the worst tap to advantage percentages in the AFL. Don't know what else needs to be said really.

This is spot on, McEvoy's form in the tail end of the season was woeful, he looked like a passenger for the most part and I believe was subbed out once or twice. His real strength is marks in defensive 50, when he's firing he's a huge asset, unfortunately when opposition clubs neutralise this area of his game he becomes a bit of a liability. I have no problem with grabbing Hampson and holding our first rounder, I think we've played it smart in not chasing McEvoy.

Listening to the Saints supporters on SEN this arvo, they are off the same opinion.
Views divided but more happy to see him go than I would have thought!
Hampson trade looking better by the minute! :)

So by putting weight to what some saints supporters think makes Hampson trade look better? But you scoff at the posters here who werent appreciative of the Hampson trade?

Never scoffed, just had a different perspective!
I originally voted no!
My whole stance has been trusting the club to do their homework & I feel their recent performance gives them plenty of credits.
When Shaun joined my immediate reaction was to give him my support & find the positives in the Trade.

I will scoff at those posters whose EVERY post is critical of the club, it's staff & players.

And on reflection & taking on board reactions from varied places (radio, papers & this forum) I find myself liking this trade more & more.

fair enough too. I like to be objective and whilst the recruiting has vastly improved I'm not one to blindly agree with everything the recruiters do. I didn't like this trade at all but I hope and pray Hampson stars for us.

Also fair enough. Be nice if every player on the list played to their full potential, alas life's not like that.

This trade is garbage jukes

I'd expect Big Boy to be a much better player at Haw than he was at StK, just like Guerra, Gibson, Hale, Gunston and Lake before him. Haw has done extremely well in this trade, I can't understand what StK is thinking - who is going to play ruck for them next year? Wooden spoon is their future I reckon.

Interesting. Considering most on here would claim that Eevan had a pretty average sort of year due to groin niggles, it doesn't lend much credence to anyone claiming we stuffed up by not paying double or more to get McEvoy instead of the cheap Hamster.
Is McEvoy perhaps bringing an improvement to the Gale force to Dawkthorn?
