Agree, saw him take 2 or 3 marks but saw him drop 5-6. He did better when he kicked long twice but seriously as a ten year AFL player going back to play VFL he was ordinary.Coburgtiger said:No he was not. Hampson was tall, that's it.
His ball use was atrocious. His skills are atrocious. He took a couple of marks, which was great, but he didn't look above the level. He struggled at times to look at the level.

But you didn't see the game.... :hihileon said:Just such insightful comments. Yes, you never see any AFL ruck-men drop any marks they get a hand to; everything they touch sticks!
Did Hampson go 'back to play VFL' today after 10 years at AFL, did he? I thought he continued his return (I think third VFL game in 2017) after missing all year with a LT back injury?! Just maybe he is working back into some reasonable form and fitness subsequently. Your and the likes of Coburg's opinions don't seem consistent with others' comments on H's performance today. Since I had to work, only saw about the last 12-15 minutes. Thought he did reasonably well and some good impact in that period, along with a couple of errors. But saw too little to comment on his overall game.
But haters have to keep on hating. Meanwhile, we look like feeding Nankervis to the Cats surfeit of tall timber who will be easily able to double-team and wear him down, while throwing the hapless Grigg in as ruck relief. Ludicrous!
I feel we must include another tall to support Nank and also make Geelong think twice about playing Harry Taylor forward to muscle-up on Rance again. Remember, Hawkins is back as well, unlike last H & A match. Would like it to be Griffiths, but he looks like he is still coming to form/fitness as well. I seriously doubt the club can afford to take the risk on him in a final (meaning concussion issues). Then there's Soldo!?
Maybe the answer is Cal Moore who they refused to give an AFL game all year, even when JR hurt his eye. Go figure.

The comments are remarkably consistent.
Everyone's agreeing that he took a couple of nice marks around the ground and had a presence in the ruck. As I said, he's tall. Everyone's also agreeing that he made a lot of errors
tigertim said:And we call them "nice" marks but to be honest they were just standard marks that you'd expect any AFL player to mark but because it's Hampy he surprises us when old Iron Gloves actually does catch one.

but i wouldnt be changing our winning formula to bring him in.
playing Hampson or Nankervis or an under done Griffiths in our forward line is just playing into the Cats' hands i reckon. Henderson will stop them having much influence, but will still play off them, support Lonergan on Jack and intercept long bombs.
