Hampson was great at vfl today and personally I'd support bringing him in and get Nankervis forward.

No he was not. Hampson was tall, that's it.

His ball use was atrocious. His skills are atrocious. He took a couple of marks, which was great, but he didn't look above the level. He struggled at times to look at the level.

I only saw the second half of the vfl match and thought Hampson was one of the main reasons we won the game.
He dominated the centre bounces and moved well around the ground.
Looked good at this level.

Agree, saw him take 2 or 3 marks but saw him drop 5-6. He did better when he kicked long twice but seriously as a ten year AFL player going back to play VFL he was ordinary.

He was shivking. Handing balling behind players, dropping sitters. The sooner he is gone the better.

Just such insightful comments. Yes, you never see any AFL ruck-men drop any marks they get a hand to; everything they touch sticks!

Did Hampson go 'back to play VFL' today after 10 years at AFL, did he? I thought he continued his return (I think third VFL game in 2017) after missing all year with a LT back injury?! Just maybe he is working back into some reasonable form and fitness subsequently. Your and the likes of Coburg's opinions don't seem consistent with others' comments on H's performance today. Since I had to work, only saw about the last 12-15 minutes. Thought he did reasonably well and some good impact in that period, along with a couple of errors. But saw too little to comment on his overall game.

But haters have to keep on hating. Meanwhile, we look like feeding Nankervis to the Cats surfeit of tall timber who will be easily able to double-team and wear him down, while throwing the hapless Grigg in as ruck relief. Ludicrous!

I feel we must include another tall to support Nank and also make Geelong think twice about playing Harry Taylor forward to muscle-up on Rance again. Remember, Hawkins is back as well, unlike last H & A match. Would like it to be Griffiths, but he looks like he is still coming to form/fitness as well. I seriously doubt the club can afford to take the risk on him in a final (meaning concussion issues). Then there's Soldo!?

Maybe the answer is Cal Moore who they refused to give an AFL game all year, even when JR hurt his eye. Go figure.

Hampson was Hampson. Looks a million dollars in the ruck but his taps rarely go to advantage. Takes the odd mark around the ground but drops plenty more. Has the touch of a sledgehammer and turns it over.

He was getting done over by Jessie White in the ruck FFS in the last quarter.

If he dons a Richmond jumper in finals we may as well start Mad Monday early

I have been probably 1 of his biggest critic's even before he come to the tigers, But he did do well today and won the ruck contests and took a few good marks - Issue is he does very very little apart from the Ruck

Ben Griffiths had a really good game today and looked confident and went for his marks

I feel Nank on his own is going to struggle against the Geelong tall timber and we need another tall , Just who to drop for the extra tall

He took two good grabs, but went one hand up at so many other marking contests.

It was the VFL and he was well beaten by the out of contract USA guy.

I really hope Dimma isnt that stupid.

I suppose on yesterday's performance he is an option, if they think the second ruck/ forward is a better option. His job would be obviously to help give Nankervis a chop out if he came in, he did give a contest many times at the down the line kick and also when forward he did create a few crumbs when the went the long dump kick.

There's is atlest 2 options with Hammer and Grif for a different structure if they think that's the way to go.

But you didn't see the game.... :hihi

Your pomposity is legendary Leon.

Have another read of the thread, Leon. I think you're seeing what you want to see.

The comments are remarkably consistent.

Everyone's agreeing that he took a couple of nice marks around the ground and had a presence in the ruck. As I said, he's tall. Everyone's also agreeing that he made a lot of errors.

The dispute is whether he is included next week.

If we really feel our 2016 structure is better than our 2017 structure, then sure, his inclusion makes sense.

If we feel that winning tap outs is more important than ball use, clearances and actually winning the game, then sure, include him.

If you're okay with handballs behind players, switches across the ground to the opposition, no 2 way running, no tackling, no taps to advantage, and the inclusion of a bloke who hasn't played all year, then go for it.

All because Nank 'might' go down.

I for one am not going to cut off my nose because I might get a cold.

And we call them "nice" marks but to be honest they were just standard marks that you'd expect any AFL player to mark but because it's Hampy he surprises us when old Iron Gloves actually does catch one.

Cymbols

Leon's just trolling again

I only saw 2nd half and thought Hampson was hopeless in the 3rd, hitouts straight to opposition and did nothing around the ground. But thought he lifted in the last. Hardly saw Griffiths at all. Personally can't see either being selected for first final.

the bits i saw i thought Hampson played ok, and if we really needed a tall i would be ok with him coming in.
but i wouldnt be changing our winning formula to bring him in.
playing Hampson or Nankervis or an under done Griffiths in our forward line is just playing into the Cats' hands i reckon. Henderson will stop them having much influence, but will still play off them, support Lonergan on Jack and intercept long bombs.

Ok, don't worry, Castagna will stop Henderson doing this and will kill him with his 5 disposals for 0.2 and 2 x OOB as well. Bet they're worried. Also about the threat Grigg poses when he relieves Nank in the ruck. Frightening prospect for the Cats. They've only played finals for 10 out of the last 11 years or something, but clearly have no idea; fancy playing all these big men!

We'll show 'em!
