Team structure is important or so I’m told. But Richmond suffers from a collective illness called “mental weakness” that in big games doesn’t see just one or two Tigers go missing but half the team.Bullarto Tiger said:I understand your point, 01 ... yet, I would prefer that neither Soldo or Hampson played in the finals. Believe they would be distinct liabilities to the effort required.
Nankervis is going to have to shoulder the load pretty much solo come September (fingers crossed regarding injury).
The Tigers are going to have to be very inventive come the finals ... there are a number of deficiencies across the team, yet it might well be possible to play deeper into September than possibly thought if the Tigers' brains trust can weave and create some magic that instills supreme belief in the playing group.
If the Tigers are to be some sort of challenge and threat in September then the team structure is, to a degree, going to require flexibility and adaptability to various situations and scenarios.
Together with our chronic inability to miss very gettable goals and the cauldron of pressure that any final is and I believe hoping for some brains trust magic to solve these and other problems you mention is a huge ask.
Still, it’s been a crazy, topsy-turvy season and while anything is possible I believe the finals expose even more the inadequacies of a side and the Tigers have many to overcome to make a very real and successful statement in September. Much will depend on our coaches, how they train the side leading up to the finals series and Hardwicks coaching performance on game day in the finals – gulp! Bringing in not just "under-done" players but players who are not up to snuff and rush them into the side is not a viable solution as past history clearly tells us.
