Yes, exactly illustrating my argument, that you refuse to comprehend no matter how many times I have attempted to convey it to you, because you are so full of your own conceited views. It is about the whole midfield team; not simply the ruckman. But if your ruckman is winning the HOs and your mids are sharp on winning the CLRs, then you have a powerful combination.

But just because a ruckman is winning the HOs, it does not automatically mean his team win the clearances. So this time our mids (which includes Nank) in the 1st Q beat them even though Kreuz was winning the HOs. It totally proves what I have given up trying to convey to you; I know this will fail too. However, maybe read RC's article in the Age today. Fascinating reading. Most of the winning teams had losing rucks BECAUSE their midfields and other players won the contests from and after the HOs e.g. although Sandy dominated, Geelong thrashed Freo around the CLRs; same with the Pies and Dogs. Grundy dominated but, as Beveridge suggests, you can overcome this by winning turnovers. The exception was Dees where Gawn dominated as well as their mids taming Saints and then getting well on top.

PS - And I thought of you while out driving listening to the segment on SEN with Luff and Champion Data. I wasn't able to stop and record the very interesting stats he revealed on Dusty's role in our midfield. It explained what I was struggling to understand. We all rate him as probably our top mid, but he's actually a poor CLR player. On stats, we actually do much better without DM in the centre. His value is as an outside mid running into attack and up forward. I had suspected for a long time that he does not have great anticipation nor read the play all that well; but once he is in a contest he thrives.

Exactly. Hit outs are irrelevant, midfielders matter. The ruckman is a full third of your midfield line. Your ruckman must be a capable midfielder. Ergo, Hampson goes in the bin.

It's just such an obvious requirement these days. Your ruckman must have midfield player capabilities. If you can't pressure, tackle, get the ball off the ground, smother, spoil in marking contests then you cannot adequately ruck at AFL level.

You've gotta be kidding me.

The rumour was opposition clubs were circling Hampson. We had to throw the kitchen sink at him. Only problem is Chinese whispers changed the rumour message, it was EFL clubs circling, thinking for sure he'd be delisted.

Just watching Footy Classified. Apparently Cats did not play a ruckman at Boundary throw ins AT ALL in the last quarter and outscored North by 4 goals.

Seems lose the hitouts is almost a game plan now.

I saw that too. I have no idea why the north ruckman didn't just volley the ball out of the air 50 metres forward.

No one else is allowed to touch it before it hits the ground. It's essentially a free kick. North ruckman just panicked.

Yeah it was bizarre watching Hawkins just standing back. Goes to show over rated rucks are.

But you wont apply that logic to 2015 and 2016 where the midfield set up didn't change.

Only just caught up with your reply. The answer is that Hampson is a very different style of knock ruckman to Maric. He gets air, taps it far wider. It didn't suit all our in and under types like Miles. Very few pacy outside mids who read the ball drop well, like Sheds.

Maybe we should play Griggy in the ruck and Nank can play full forward. That would give McLovin something to think about.

Megan Gale has revealed how the Hampervan did his back: she's preggers again.

Can't she pay people to do that?

How many games will Hampson play for Richmond?
With Richo finally shooting straight we might have a model team in 2035 :)

Article on that website saying Dimms reckons Hampy had another setback last week with his back injury and doesn't know how long he,ll be unavailable for.

Sounds pretty bad.
I feel for any footballer who has their career brought to a halt by injury.
Hammers time is nearly up.
He'll want to be able to run around with his kids soon enough so hope he gets it right.
