Sometimes, the one person railing against common knowledge and wisdom, and finding themselves completely on their own, is doing so because they are the only truly objective, free thinking genius. The Galileo's and Plato's of the world.

Usually though, is because they are wrong. The 'holding your underpants firmly against your head while screaming vaguely poetic abuse at trees' people of the world.

Wow! What a philosopher! From little old Coburg too. Never realised Galileo and Plato went around 'holding [their] underpants firmly against [their] head while screaming vaguely poetic abuse at trees' people of the world. And that's what made them geniuses?

Never even realised underpants were invented, in their wide-apart centuries of existence. Can you tell us the brand and colour? Maybe tiger-printed Bonds?

I just don't get what they had against the tree-people of the world? Anti-greenies? Pro-mining?

And how did the geniuses of the many intervening centuries get their recognition, because I have heard little about this philosophical phenomenon until just now?

Please, master, enlighten us further.

Hope you have sobered up since, Zips. But I think 'youve' mixed up your 'foitballers'. Hampson never wore a don jumper. That was Matt Dea.

I am neither little, nor old. I'll take master though.

But thank you for the deranged, yet vaguely poetic abuse. Please direct it to your nearest tree.

I picture Leon a bit like grandpa Simpson especially when he's yelling at a cloud.....

No, mate, that was all your own work. Any derangement is all yours. I just applied the touch of satire you so richly deserve.

You posted it; own it.

Another philosopher, TinyTim? Are you of the same school of dementia as Coburg? I guess so... with him 'holding [his] underpants firmly against [his] head while screaming vaguely poetic abuse at trees,' while you 'yell at clouds.'

These weird ideas of yours'; I can imagine that's a pretty odd school of philosophy. Must be a hoot you two together.

Sorry to disappoint you but I'm not into this nonsense that you two cough up. Very pragmatic. But each to their own ... school.

Leon, I am not the poster police and you can post as you like within the rules but perhaps a simple:

"I'll take Plato or Galileo ;D"

would have sufficed as a response to Coburg. A comeback that is consistent with your position and defence of the Hammer and a diffuser of tension.

I'm sure Coburg would have copped something like that in good grace and then maybe some common ground might be found with him and others on other topics.

Why are half the posts on Hampson from leon? Some sort of relationship?
It's a quantity vs quality thing. Bit like hitouts vs hitouts to advantage.

Yes, you do come across as an "each to their own" type of person.......

Personally I love logging in to PRE each day to see who Leon is going to yell at next.

No, a grave mis-reading. Hardly ever yelling but I suppose occasionally annoyed at some poster. Mostly having a real laugh, a bit of fun. For example, I'm often reacting to someone's use of words (or slaughter of the language). I've come to often enjoy Zip's work and regard him as a great character on PRE. That's not to say that I don't think he occasionally goes too far, too dismissive or unduly negative. In which case, I might respond. Lately I was only poking a bit of fun at Zip's way with words/spelling etc.

We all make errors; posters pick me up on it too.

I accept your advice in good faith, but try to acquire some objectivity too, Lamby. You can see from my recent posts, like with the bit of to and fro with Evo and Antman, it was mostly pretty light-hearted. Given Hampo's LTI, it's all fairly by-the-way now. I was happy to leave it all at my 'momentarily' post. Just joking around. Next Coburg wades in with his philosophical crap, soon followed by TT.

Then you suggest I responded 'heavily.' Firstly, I just responded which I think I am entitled to; secondly, if a poster comes up with this kind of conceited gibberish, it deserves a satirical response. Seriously: Plato, Galileo, trees and underpants. Then Grandpa Simpson, yells and clouds. They only forgot the Spanish Inquisition, Monty Python and Steven Hawking. Not sure what 'common ground' you expect me to find here. But you need to realise, I am often having a laugh. My tone is not intended to be taken as 'nasty' or whatever. But free speech means people will say things you may not agree with, like, or interpret as intended.

Sometimes, ridicule is the only response reasonable. The same goes for the "Nank is the new Messiah posts", based on 3 JLT games!! :rofl

Love what he can hopefully bring. But, spare me, he has a whole career to get underway at Tigerland. Hardly begun.

I think Megan and their child would have that covered. No, I've always backed the underdog; it's some sort of instinct in me. Posted in defence of other players who I think get hard done by at times e.g. Ben Griffiths, Andrew Moore.

One of my starting positions is, from being involved with U18 football not that long ago, is that a lot of fans are, or become, armchair spectators or keyboard warriors. If they've ever actually played the game, they forget just how hard, fast and tough it is. The tackles, bumps and injuries. I actually respect those good enough to play at the highest level, and those who put their bodies on the line week-in, week-out for my club.

Criticism is totally valid; just slagging a guy crudely, or ignorantly, is weak IMHO.

So you think it's an exact science, Bill? If a ruckman can hit it, it must go to his mids every time. Bloody simple.

Some ruckman do this every time ... don't they Bill? I'm sure you can provide the indisputable evidence/proof.

Facts are there, you choose to ignore them, that's your choice.

You come back with nothing but hot air, Bill. Never mind, that was the answer I expected.
