Re: poll: Shaun Hampson

Number one ruck in the AFL for percentage of hit outs to advantage. When he rucks, he's very good. Just not very good at anything else... Yet

Too all those who are against this trade, Etihad Stadium is that way >>>>>>>

Hampson will forever be compared to Pick 28, whoever that may be, and god help the RFC if pick 28 has a breakout game 5 or 6 years down the track or the RFC will have been deemed to have made the right choice when pick 28 gets delisted in 2 years because he just can't cut the mustard at afl level, or if any pick from 28 to whenever richmonds next pick in the draft is becomes a gun, we will be forever reminded about what we missed in the 2013 draft and giving up pick 28 was a disaster.

If this the only trade we do then so be it, you don't need to go to the well every year.

Of course these are just your opinions just as others have theirs.

I agree you dont need to go to the well every year but if you don't, does this mean that we are considered to have the team now that can win the grand final?

I think you keep trading up all the time. My opinion of course.

Re: poll: Shaun Hampson

Have felt the groin problem may be a real worry. Lack of elite ruckmen, that we can afford without giving up our first pick.
There is a little bit of beggars cant be choosers about this deal. Fingers crossed he starts playing like a no17 pick should!

Maybe.

If he hasn't developed footy smarts by now though it's a long shot. Seems like a desperate move because Maric's groin is probably shot. I'm guessing worse than they're even letting on based off this move.

Re: Shaun Hampson Done Deal

Deal is done for pick 28 - 3yr contract. Manager has just confirmed on SEN.

All our recent recruits have had a big first year, so let's hope that's the case next year.

Just confirmed on Richmonds website for pick 28. Lets hope we get a second rounder for losing White/McGuane

Very few ruckmen make an effective KPF.

No but KPF make great KPF. Think you guys had one a couple of years ago but trade him for Judd. Haven't had an effective one since.

Welcome & good luck Shaun, hope you step up and have a great career at Tigerland.

And if it all goes pear shaped & the boo boys get to you, at least you have Megan at home to console you! ;)

Re: poll: Shaun Hampson

I don't understand the apparent urgency to make this trade early in the week. Surely if Longer goes to the Hawks as expected there wouldn't be much of a market for Hampson to the point where a third round pick may have worked. We all know Carlton are keen to thin their ruck stocks. I can't see anyone else giving a second round pick.

Having said that I'm prepared to trust that we know what we are doing. I mean no one expected Maric to do what he did when he first came to Richmond. Maybe it's our version of trading down, believing the kid we would take with our second pick will still be there at the pick we get for White / McGone or the current third round pick we have. Seems like we paid overs now but time will tell I guess.

The RFC site says the trade was for "a second round pick" - not pick 28 as such. It makes me think we indeed have another second rounder coming in somewhere. Maybe CFC gets the compo one.

Seeing as Hawthorn have offered their first pick (currently 19) for Longer, wondering why we didn't offer pick 11 for Longer & Karnezis?
