Re: poll: Shaun Hampson

After going through a few videos where Hampson gets the bronx cheer from Scum supporters as he spills marks and cant kick a goal
This is his best highlight package I could find

Re: poll: Shaun Hampson

Well a bit expensive for me but as others have said I trust the club's analysts, they have plenty of credits in my books.

Hope like hell he does a Maric...

I reckon this is the most likely thing to happen. In which case we will essentially have gained Hampson & moved White & McGuane off the list for just a couple of spots in the draft order.

Yet again we will be saying "great work tigers" (those of us who haven't had a heart attack, that is) ::)

Whilst I'm not opposed to using a 2nd round pick on Hampson per se, I don't understand this logic.

A second round pick is just as valuable even if you already have another. A second round pick is a second round pick, it's not like trading cards, having 'doubles' doesn't make it less useful.

Re: poll: Shaun Hampson

I normally accept the club knows what it is doing at trade time and I never wish players that come to our club anything but success but some days I wish our recruiters would not pick what I consider duds. I reckon Hampson is one of the worst trades we have done for some time. He may end up ok, who knows, but I personally do not like this trade.

My biggest gripe is that if we are not looking to do any more trading, the club must think we are locked and loaded. I don't and cannot understand how we can continue to hold players that are clearly not up to playing in our firsts. We need to continue to upgrade. Hampson is certainly not an upgrade IMO.

He is certainly an upgrade on Derickx

Hampson will surprise.

I reckon we're getting another one or two second-rounders for White/McGaaawn.
We're really going to need at least another 2nd rounder to have a crack at this draft.

I wouldn't mind trading our first pick and a Nahas or someone else to upgrade a few spots and have a crack at Billings or one of the gun mids who would otherwise go before out pick 11 but the likelihood of this happening aren't good.

Not ideal IMO with Hampson traded for a 2nd rounder but seeing as this pick will end up being around 35ish then I suppose it isn't the end of the world.

I agree with this. From the few times I have seen him play, I thought he was a lumbering nothing player. Like you TL I just hope the club knows what it is doing. If we get him I hope he proves you and me and some others wrong.

Re: Shaun Hampson Done Deal

Welcome Shaun! Dan says he will play kpf/ruck and allow Ivan a rest and Vickers to play permanent forward. Ladies and gentlemen I give you two rucks ina team

Re: poll: Shaun Hampson

Too all those who are against this trade, Etihad Stadium is that way >>>>>>>

Hampson will forever be compared to Pick 28, whoever that may be, and god help the RFC if pick 28 has a breakout game 5 or 6 years down the track or the RFC will have been deemed to have made the right choice when pick 28 gets delisted in 2 years because he just can't cut the mustard at afl level, or if any pick from 28 to whenever richmonds next pick in the draft is becomes a gun, we will be forever reminded about what we missed in the 2013 draft and giving up pick 28 was a disaster.

If this the only trade we do then so be it, you don't need to go to the well every year.

Re: poll: Shaun Hampson

I am waiting/hoping that a subsequent announcement will come explaining that we get Carlton 3rd, Or something else to sweeten the deal

Must be a done deal Rosy.
I read it on your site. ;)

Re: poll: Shaun Hampson

Obvious is pick 28 is way too much for a battling, injury prone ruckman. Hope to be proved wrong, but think it will be unlikely.

Carlton have done us again for the third time this year.

Not really, he'll be compared to 28 (or whatever our eventual pick we traded to calrton for him) and above.

If Pick 47 becomes a gun, it will be the clubs fault for wasting 28 on the Hummer

Re: poll: Shaun Hampson

We're probably a bit gun shy with second round picks on talls ie; Grifiths, Post, Batch.

With Hampson they have at least got a known quantity.

Fits the bill size wise and athletically. Be interesting to see if our development team can work on his confidence and decision making.

Re: poll: Shaun Hampson

Horrendous trade.

Second round pick for an athlete with no footy smarts. Richmond of old trade.

Or the new Richmond sees something that you don't, just sayin'.

Maybe.

If he hasn't developed footy smarts by now though it's a long shot. Seems like a desperate move because Maric's groin is probably shot. I'm guessing worse than they're even letting on based off this move.
