Obviously I hope Hampson does well at Richmond, but on the surface of it pick 28 for him looks to be probably the worst trade we've done since Hardwick arrived.

My understanding is we have to enter the draft with 3 choices. Or maybe we can trade a pick and that counts.
With Luke, White and Tuck gone, I don't believe we *have* to turn over any more. But we should.

As i posted on BF "im not totally against this trade but not for our 2nd rounder, could the club think or know that we are getting a 2nd rounder for white/mcguane to make this 2nd round call on hampson"...

If this turns out to be correct, we likely have done well by getting Hampson.
Essentially we lose a back up positional player we don't need (Muscles), and replace with one that actually do need to help Maric, with nominal loss of draft position. Lets not forget that O is only a short term back up at best and we need some coverage for a few years until McBean etc come on and grow up a bit.
I liked White. He was shaping to be a good contributor, but I think he may have peaked this year. I couldn't see him in a premiership side. Also it is easier to get another mid than a half decent ruck. Theres a fair chance that is we get a half decent pick at 11 they could play 10 plus games next year, and lets not forget the other youngsters Mcdonough, helbig, arnot etc that could also fill the white role in the future..
So provided we get another 2nd rounder as indicated this is a fair deal..

I reckon this is the most likely thing to happen. In which case we will essentially have gained Hampson & moved White & McGuane off the list for just a couple of spots in the draft order.
Yet again we will be saying "great work tigers" (those of us who haven't had a heart attack, that is) :

All good but as u know its a forum and not all will agree and most will give different opinions on players they like and dont like, nature of the beast mate...

I don't think we should be trading out Hampson for a pick below 30, but the going rate for rucks tends to be 20-40. Hopefully we either trade back into the 2nd round, or we get a compo pick somewhere before 40 for White+McGuane, otherwise this trade is paying overs for Hampson's quality,

Hope so. Would be disappointed if we gave up 28 for Hampson and that was our only second round pick.

Maric replica? 24-25, 3rd string ruckman who has shown bits and pieces now and then. Then a new club, and bang.
Can we play all 3 talls, Ty, Maric and Hampson or is he just backup to give Maric a break every 3-4 games?? Something to work with in the pre season.

Not a massive Hampson fan but I reckon the club has quite a few credits up over the last few seasons & noone really knows how it will turn out!
Can't see the need for the gnashing of teeth & tearing out of hair! ;D
