Re: Shaun Hampson Done Deal

He's still 3 years away from ruck duties, something which we all knew at the time. We also overlooked Hannath, in favour of a guy who was clearly staring retirement in the face. At the very least, Derickx should have been delisted last year to get more options on the conveyer belt.
I agree he is 3 years away which coincides with Maric being around 30 and at the end of his career.
Personally I see Vickery being the next number 1 ruck and McBean taking up Vickerys current role.

Re: poll: Shaun Hampson

FWIW Hampson is certainly not a bad tap ruckman. The baffling thing is, if were supposedly giving up a second rounder for this bloke surely we plan to play him in the firsts and not the seconds?

If the plan is to play him in the seconds and give first use to our mids because our 2nd's ruckman can't, then I'd be all for that, but not at the cost of a second rounder.

Maybe it's the compo pick from White and McGuane that is on the table which is touted to be a end of second round pick.

Yep hope so (assuming we get a compo pick that is), otherwise Crazy Vossy can hand his moniker over to....Crazy Hartley!

You simply don't trade anything of substance for a ruckman that has had serious knee injuries in consecutive seasons. Insanity.

Re: Shaun Hampson Done Deal

We have a top 5 ruckman in maric and a pretty good 2nd ruck who can play fwd mark and kick goals. Wat r people saying we have no rucks. Hampton will be ressies unless these two get inj. Big O can then stop gap Also. We don't need to wAste second rd pick on a ressies ruck ffs

Wrong on all counts

I worry that Maric's groins are worse than first thought & will need management.
I see TV as an old style follower-good around the ground, mobile & a good mark.'=
Not so good in the middle.

Re: Shaun Hampson Done Deal

Our biggest problem structure wise is that dimma needs a ruck that can go forward and play the Vickery role. Neither maric or orren can play the role effectively so that's where Hampton comes in. I'd rather a 32 yo jolly myself but Let's see how this plays out

stupid move Richmond , geez i thought we had learnt from past years making stupid trades

Nope it's a Richmond tradition. Because we are determined to do a 'Sydney' every trade period we seem to pick up some player(s) who are s*** or on their last legs just to prove how clever we are. This is a Terry Wallace special, Carlton must be laughing the crap out of themselves for what we have paid for this hack. Pathetic.

Re: Shaun Hampson Done Deal

Vickery is no ruck. I personally don't get the Vickery love in, he's ok but no world beater and doesn't appear to improve year on year but we shall see, but as a ruck no good. That was when we really started to lose the elimination final, Vickery couldn't deal at all with Warnock.

Anyhow, I don't know whether Hampson would be any good, but Gold Coast have an abundance of rucks, what with Zac Clarke (their number 1), who will likely play with Dixon. They also have Nicholls (who was excellent this year), Gorringe and Josh Hall. I'd love to see us going for someone like Nicholls, I would have no idea what it would cost to get him as Gold Coast don't need to trade a lot as have a good list, but would be an awesome signing if we could get it done.

Re: poll: Shaun Hampson

I'd say we are not interested in Garlett.

Can't see us using our first pick to snare him, and don't reckon he will last to our third.

Just showed on ch 7 news that Hampson is a tiger & we'll be giving up our 2nd round pick, disgraceful. Why pay so high? Has massive flaws in his game and we're forgoing getting a very good footballer that we could get at the draft. If FJ and the rest of the recruiting staff have done their homework & identified this years crop of players thoroughly as they should, we surely should be able to get a player of better quality than Hampson with much longer service. Another short-sighted, quick fix approach. A third round pick at most I could just handle, we are paying way overs. Really disappointed.

I agree with all u said, after receiving a few texts from some blues mates having a laugh i thought this was some cruel joke.
Longer, mummy to GWS did we inquire bout mummy? why not go hard on longer...
I would luv for hampson to prove me wrong but unfortunately ive seen enough of him and his dreadful kicking to feeling not overly confident that he can turn it around...

Is he going to be 1st ruck or 2nd ruck or is he simply going to replace Orren in the ressies me thinks the latter, a 2nd round pick :-[ im still picking myself up off the ground...
