Re: Shaun Hampson Done Deal

Surely wre not wasting our second rd pick on a ressies player. Please say it ain't so.
Third rd scum, take it or keep ur superstar ruckman.
Surely this won't happen

So far this off-season has been horrible, worst I can remember since Blair joined the den.
seems rather melodramatic considering we have had 1 day of free agency and that is it. So far what has been so horrible about Blairs offseason ?

Hampson may come to Richmond, but I bet its not for a 2nd rounder

You might be right. His worth a pick over 50 at best.

Just had a quick squizz at a few previous drafts. D.Beams pick 29, Hannebery pick 30, M.Duncan pick 28, Gunston pick 29, Luke Parker went at 40 (thought he went earlier) even more evidence you can find great players even later, B.Hill pick 33 are some examples in the last few years of players taken around our pick. All very good players, B+ to A graders for most of them. Yeah it's no certainty, but with our improved footy department & resources, you would think we have a good shot at identifying great talent.

nice names

Not sure how many of them could play in the ruck , or to push maric to get better.

Our ruck stocks are near the worst in the league, wont pay Mumford 550k a year, and longer isn't ready.

What are the options

Re: poll: Shaun Hampson

What ?? A second round draft pick ?? Why ??
A third and nahas would be ok... But not a second round one .... I'd rather Garlett with our second pick

25; 26 in March. Has a leap, but Carlton supporters will tell you he doesn't clunk many.
Had his eyes fixed prior to last season to improve his marking ability. Season rolled around and it still didn't improve. Kicking for goal also has a tendency to be atrocious.

Decision-making let him down also for mine...there was a passage of play late in the round one clash this year where he had it at around half forward. Clean disposal to a team-mate would just about win the Blues the game....bloke handballs to the ground, Tigers clear it and win.

I'm glad to be rid of him but as I was with Grigg, all the absolute very best.

Re: poll: Shaun Hampson

pick 28 is way too much for hampson. be surprised if we paid that much

Re: Shaun Hampson Done Deal

I agree there are not many options out there but I still feel we will be getting ripped off

Well summed up.
This is the issue in a nutshell.
Critics need to put up viable ruck trade alternatives for the 2014 season.

Totally agree, so why isn't anyone giving them the time (and trust) to do so?

just maybe SH is the best ruck option available taking into consideration our salary cap, the trade options we actually have to offer & those ruckmen willing & able to come to us!

Call this the butterfly effect for not picking up Grundy.

have no idea what we are going to pay, but we need a ruckman

Instead of Vlaustin was that the option? or did we have another pick before Grundy went?

No, it was Flossy or Grundy, but this is the harsh reality of not grabbing the tall option when we had the opportunity. Nothing against Flossy but from a list management perspective it was always going to cause headaches down the track.

Ok. Think we'll agree to disagree on this one, politely of course, as I think Flossy will become a legend of the club!

Not putting any pressure on him or anything!

What about McBean?

He's still 3 years away from ruck duties, something which we all knew at the time. We also overlooked Hannath, in favour of a guy who was clearly staring retirement in the face. At the very least, Derickx should have been delisted last year to get more options on the conveyer belt.

Re: poll: Shaun Hampson

Maybe it's the compo pick from White and McGuane that is on the table which is touted to be a end of second round pick.
