She said no to Kerston and no to Kavanagh for us. The Kersten rumour is out of the West in the context of Freo being beaten to their preferred option.
Thanks Lennox

Could do worse than Docherty I reckon. Looks a ready-made prospect.

I reckon so too. At the end of the day - I am fairly confident that the club will pick up a good player regardless of who is taken.

He needs to work on his inside game & will always be a bit more outside than those two but Jordan Murdoch could a similar role to the first you mention ILO.
Probably more wing/half back to go with his forward work than the excellent inside games Chapman/O'Keefe have.

Will start out similar to Isaac Smith but with his size & attributes can be a very dangerous floating 3rd tall in the future for leysy.

Reckon he's a cracking fit for us.

Is he likely to be a better fit than Daniel Farmer who we should be able to get with 55 if we want to fill that hole?

Not too many overhead or one grab marks in the videos.

This post just about sums it up. You looked at the 1min video of Kersten in one game where he kicked 4 goals and you've judged him in that. FWIW I rate Kersten as the best mark in the draft.

There was also someone who asked if he played in the Champs and WAFL.

Last year he played in the Champs and kicked 15 goals as an under ager.

This year he didn't play due to an elbow injury which also affected his fitness testing at the Combine.

He came back, late in this season in WAFL Colts, and kicked 18 goals in the last 3 home and away games. He then kicked 5 in the Grand Final.

He tested top 10 in the clean hands test at the Combine.

Kid is a gun and if available, I want him.

Leysy would rather Murdoch.

On Kerston leysy doesnt know much about him but its worth taking into acct they are highlights from early 2010.

Jack Darling did the same thing. Wouldn't surprise to see him come out and do what Darling did this year

The Darling calls are a little over the top. In 2009 Darling was just about the best player going around in the U18 Championship. He was playing WAFL 1's for 16 months and holding his own. If Darling could have been drafted in 2009 West Coast would have taken him ahead of Nic Nat. Maybe Darling goes 1 to Melbourne. For me Kersten has not shown any where near that form line.

Kersten was playing unbelievably against men last year as a 16/17 year old mate.

There was a few call then he was a top 5 top 10 draft choice. Maybe not the Darling number 1 but he was close.

just saw his clips - impressive. from the limited vision looks a better prospect than some touted at our pick. how come he's not talked about? does he get enough of the ball? what's his junior form like? looks a nice size, quick, good skills.

Fair enough. Note I did say that only in the video link posted he didn't take any overhead marks - I didn't judge him or offer an opinion as to whether we should draft him or not.

Probably because he's 19 and already been overlooked once.

ok, makes sense. what's his club form been like?

Sounds quite good going from Glenelg u18's to their senior team by the end of the year as well as playing in the carnival games.

hope we are considering him

Yeah for sure. He sounds a lot like Farmer to me. Quick, good skills, same height and the same age. I hope we get one of them anyway.

Harry, question marks some have are he can drift out of games, mainly due to fitness ILO, is overage & needs to work on his inside game,

Positives are his kicking, nice left foot & can go loooong, athletic freak, great size at 190cm, excellent tackler, knows how to kick a goal, despite his age has a heap of upside to fit into AFL football as a high forward working up to the wing & back to the forward line.

In comparison to Farmer he has it all over him for speed & agility which are pretty crucial for the role he will play ILO.

Unfortunately it looks like he may go earlier than first thought.

Farmer was 4th for the 20m sprint (2.83 to Murdoch's 2.76) and 9th for agility last year. Even with modest improvement he'd be level with Murdoch this year and they're the same age.

Yeah he's still good that way Disco. Still behind though from what leysy's seen. Maybe Farmer doesnt use it enough on the field? Some guys dont. Dunno.

A question mark must be against Farmer & how he come on against men this year as well.

I'd say Farmer's 15 VFL games is equal in achievement to playing Glenelg u18's and reserves. Reading Collingwood's VFL reports he was pretty good most of the time.

Going only on his draft highlights he looks to use his speed to advantage, especially leading out. Didn't see him at all this year to judge though.

I'd be happy with either one. Seeing Farmer and McCarthy become good players after Colingwood let them go would be really sweet though.
