Semi finals 2022: Cleaning dog hair off the couch games

Pigs will fly before that happens.
I would like to be able buy a newspaper with a decent unbiased summary of a game.
Most of the media have the concentration span of a millisecond.
When I was young they were able to produce and deliver a paper within 2.5 hours of the game finishing with a full summary of the game.
Most of the current crop are only interested in scandal and hearing the sound of their own voice.
AFL accreditation is a load of bulltish.
Nearly 20 years ago my Dad lamented anyone writing about the actual game, and it’s only gotten worse since then.

Jazzy, you can torture yourself with what ifs and we'll never knows if you wanna get all Rene Descartes. I've been as serene as a Hindu bovine ever since leaving the Gabba because even though we can never know, I know. Ya know?
I know! Have noted a few prominent posters absence from the ARC appeal and similar threads regarding the ARC fiasco. Gunna channel some Kipling.

To me Lever brought some of that arrogance, lip, mouthing off to his players when did wrong from his days , GF Adelaide vs Richmond.

The arguing and fighting between the Adelaide players at HT could be heard by Grigg. It got to their heads as they believed just turn up and the Tigers will wilt.

Same as what Melb dished up. Their arrogance, the mid season fight that May was involved in, May & Lever are like a cancer.

I see them struggling next year.
In pretty sure a very knowledgeable poster was pointing to the Dees early success this year as evidence that club culture is fictitious or irrelevant. I wonder if they still think that.

That hurt. I can't help but feel we would have demolished Melbourne.

Atta boy.

SEN already going after Berry and the incident with Oliver.

There are going with ‘eye gouging, raking”.

Cornes” he got my eye, got my eye”- Oliver was saying. But he back peddled and said a fine is sufficient.

Obviously Hodge fighting the fight.

Brayshaw copped a week is what they are going with.

Yeh, posters saying we were not good enough don't want to accept this season is going to be a real missed opportunity. And it wasn't simply the fault of the players/coaches.

Umpiring cost us the game against the Lions, both in game and the ARC disgrace.

The Cats game during the year was lost through umpiring. The Swans game. Crucial calls at critical times.

Our form was good enough but taking on both an opposition and a biased organisation was too much.

I'm still pissed about the Bris result.

On the flip side, the Lions have really done a great hob to get to where they are. They didn't umpire our match, they played better than I thought they could. And last night was pretty heroic really. I have to give praise to Zorko, he has really accepted his lot. Against us and the Dees he simply played footy and left the goading and sledging out. He was superb last night. And Fagan has been humble and thoughtful. Likeable. The whole club has swallowed a huge dose of humility and are the better for it. Obviously it helps when you win but their actions on the field showed character - Charlie Cameron another who has been critical.

Let's hope they can conjure up one more win.
This.

Every close loss is a combination of luck and what you do. Same with close wins and for us lions missing a sitter late and even against Carlton a goal review went out way. Umpiring with Adelaide and Sydney crucified us. Off field timing of events is another luck factor - Dusty’s dad and Shai’s impending parenthood…

The human brain grasps for black and white cause and effect thinking and the media happily provide it but there are myriad of things going on. I think Richmond do a great job looking to stick to a process and rewarding actions/behaviours that honour that process and seeking to have fun on the way without overly focusing on the outcome during that journey.

Love it
I‘m casually mentioning to Melb supporters that May is a good judge of character - and has been proved right in relation to Melksham
It gets them fired up whichever side they take.

If it was Marlion he’d be suspended for the 2023 season.

Realistically, on paper, they should win multiple flags with this team. Serious embarrassment of riches in terms of quality and depth.

Buit methinks Goodwin is not that good a coach, their culture is *smile*, and when it comes to hubris, they put the supposedly arrogant Tigers well and truly in the shade.

This season is a major fail for them. With that list they had to be looking at a grandfinal minimum.
Nah if I’m channeling Cornes it must be all the 7 year contracts they’ve given out…

Sorry i dont get how that was a free kick in the first place.... good luck explaining the rules as i have nfi why that was paid

He's had prior opportunity by trying to shake the tackle so he must dispose of the ball via kick or handball immediately upon being tackled. He didn't.

If you mean me I said after the restaurant thing they were making the case for me and they have continued to do so.

Last year they were a bunch of jerks who won the flag because they are good footy players and they had a couple of excellent players who played exceptionally. This year they were still a bunch of jerks who didn't play footy as well so they lost.

How good you are at footy is the key to success, not some mythical magic elixir called culture.

If Syd are best it's them 52 cats 48. The group hate for Geelong is clouding judgement of the experts.

Yeah, I hate Geelong, mainly the people there at present, never hated the club.

But the way Sydney just blew Melbourne off the park was more impressive than the way Geelong willed themselves to beat Collingwood.

It is close but it is not just about who is better, it is also about who has the game plan to beat their opponent. I reckon Sydney has the game to beat Geelong. Geelong also has the game to beat Sydney but I just get the impression Sydney are building while Geelong hit their level a while ago and are maintaining that level. There is always the factor of whether Geelong will wipe out one of Sydney's players, they have form, but I reckon Sydney are looking good at the moment.

We need to stop thinking ‘what if’.

We weren’t good enough. Lacked composure and execution at key moments.

Our midfield leaked too many goals both last year and this year.

Conversely, Brisbane are building.

Geelong must overcome a team with a whiff of destiny about them.

Brissie will roll the cats next week.
Ohhhh I'd love that to happen.....however, the Cats being rolled in another GF would be even better!

So you mean the Dees arent as good at footy this year than they were last year? or even 3 months ago?

and that a culture that breeds humility cant correlate to a culture that breeds hard work, and likewise a culture that breeds arrogance cant lead to complacency and selfishness, and perhaps not working so hard? or that a culture that breeds arrogance cant lead to player disliking each other, arguing during games, and perhaps not having their heads in the right place when the going gets tough?

Yep, Petracca, Gawn, Oliver all battling injuries, McDonald not in the side at all. Others just struggling for form.

Is it your contention they had a great culture last season and then they turned into jerks?

No, I would say that maybe their talent allowed any issues to be ignored, and their arrogance maybe wasnt as strong last year as they werent reigning premiers.

as is often said it is very hard to win one premiership, let alone multiple, and a lot needs to go right. i cannot see how off field culture cannot be a factor in training efforts and in injury and rehab management. i also cannot see how a closeness of a group can be ignored contributing to whether those players do everything they can to make their teammates succeed.
