Tremendous performance.
Bev said Short was close to BOG.
A superlative effort.
810 metres gained, only 80 per cent game time.
Means they are folding the younger players in to absorb greater responsibility.
Win win.

I saw our success in 1980.
The heartbreak of 2001.
Do not attend as many games as I used to.
Just realised the other day, since the pre-season victory over the Crows at Marvel in 2017, I have not attended a loss.
The team has given us so much pleasure over the past few years, hope that a new dynasty is on the horizon.

Our worst six players according to SC points: Parker, Edwards, Cotchin, Gibcus, Graham, Miller. Surely that is a good sign.

Miller looks OK.
If Hardwick gives the kid more games and some freedom.
We have scored another tall marking defender.
We‘ve scored a tall spoiling defender.

He’s not a very reliable high mark… which is probably the reason he’s had to wait so long.

Having said that, there is plenty to like about him… closing speed, athleticism, agility, spoiling ability, decision making and neat disposal by hand or foot.

I really like him, and the club obviously sees enough upside to persist with him on the list, and further develop.

I’m hoping that his high marking will improve as he gets more confidence.

Tall back stocks are looking promising for the future…. FWIW…Biggie had a very good VFL game today, all be it after a pretty poor 1st Quarter.

Just been watching some highlights of the game, and I am starting to think that Bailey Smith was BOG for us.

Amazing how many goals we scored from him being involved in a turnover tonight.

Couldn’t see how we could win. Fantastic effort by all concerned. Nankervis Bolton and of course Short, Baker and Prestia terrific.
Ben Miller coming along nicely

SC points don't mean too much.
I've been very impressed by Dow the last 2 matches. Took on the Bont here and there and did some of his own damage

I'm just super proud of the boys! So many in the media were writing them off but we made a statement tonight at the G
I thought if we matched them in the midfield we would win. They have a suspect backline which was even more so with Alex Keath out and our backs wow played so well and that's without the experience of Grimes and Vlustuin.

Clever to have Ross as the sub.
If someone is injured, it is more prudent to have a player who can play mid or defence if needed.
Do not need an attacking sub, prefer to shore up defence as first priority.
I was hoping RCD would stand out in VFL today.
It was a very important game to assess for the future.

Interesting game.

I thought in the first quarter we were lucky to be so close, but, although Footscray could have had more goals a fair number of their behinds were a result of our pressure and our efforts to force them wide. So, although the scoring shots in the first were lopsided it wasn't all the Dogs' inaccuracy that kept us in it, some of it was our efforts.

There was enough of that game where I thought the pressure was at a much higher level than I have seen for a while. There is a lot of talk about the silly stand rule rendering pressure less effective. This is true to some extent, but watch Melbourne apply pressure, it still works we just have to bring it. We lost the clearances and still need to do a lot of work in that area, but, the opposition clearances were mostly not clean and unpressured, and it showed. If we can bring that heat and improve our own clearance performance then we become far more competitive.

A few good games from players who haven't been as good as we know they can be. Lynch was great, clunked some marks, he even kicked a goal after gathering the ball on the ground . . . unheard of, he ain't that good when the ball is not in the air. Thought Miller did well, I think it was in the last quarter when he got the ball under pressure in the goal square Punt Rd End and executed a clean pass. Was right in front of me so saw it very well. I'll take that from Miller, didn't panic and executed under pressure in the worst place on the ground for a defender. Miller can make it, won't be a star but can be a very solid defender. Shai's goal was simply magic, what can you say, he can be stunningly amazing at times. Rioli doing well. Pickett is having a great season, very consistent so far too which is great.

We can be better than this, but that was a performance which showed signs of where we can go. Much better game, the pressure was not back for the full game but it was back at times and a delight to see.

People often talk about ill discipline from Richmond, well I saw very little ill discipline tonight and yet we still get a free kick count of 15-25. Geez Footscray get easy free kicks, and geez we simply don't. Many a free kick given to a Footscray player and a similar thing happens to a Richmond player and no free - that is where the problem is. So inconsistent.

Can't remember the Richmond player who got the 50 from the stand rule, but it was a blatant case of feigning a handpass and then pointing to the player who moved. The Footscray player just dropped his head, knew he had been played, but what a ridiculous situation. Was it a Carlton player who did this last week? What is happening here is that players are deliberately feigning to handpass in the hope of the player on the mark moving and then milking the 50m penalty. The umpire has no time to call play on so they have to give the 50m penalty. I hope this becomes rife because it will hopefully mean the end of the silly stand rule. When you introduce a rule which is being milked every week for 50m penalties it is an absolute joke.

Wondering if the MRO will cite the Footscray player who whacked Baker. Far worse than what Pickett did last week but doubt anything will happen. So inconsistent.

Much happier with the performance this week by Richmond, it wasn't just the win, it was the way they won, by applying pressure and making sure the opposition clearances are under pressure and not clean. We have a way to go but that was much better.

Oh, and loved Jack's torp although I will say they kicked torps a lot further back in the day, although they also sprayed them everywhere.

If you mean when Baker had blood pouring out of him, that was accidental contact when Baker ran in to spoil

Edwards did some good things. Certainly better than last week. He'll build into the season.
Unfortunately I think he'll be the first to go once the likes of Dusty and Lambert are back. Just missing so many targets now, making bad decisions and very slow. Been a great career but all good things must come to an end.
