Season defining Tiges v Dogs - Game Day Thread

Unfortunately I think he'll be the first to go once the likes of Dusty and Lambert are back. Just missing so many targets now, making bad decisions and very slow. Been a great career but all good things must come to an end.

Shane has been very poor this year, in saying this is, I agree with WS, Shane has a history of returning from injuries slowly, and starting the season very slow.

Hope he can start improving ASAP as he's been really poor, vast difference between his best and worst.

Our backline was superb last night. Weightman 8 disposals, Vandermeer 6, Scott 5, Ugle-hagan 5, McNeil 5, that's 30 disposals between 5 forwards. They're quite young overall but you can only beat what the opposition throws at you.

Yes I agree, in the past, he has come back from injury slowly. However this time his decline began last year, probably the 4 last games or so. It's clear his body can't do what the mind is asking him to do atm. Maybe he is under a bit of an injury cloud but at 33yo it doesn't get easier. Last year of contract, I think he's likely done.

Let hope not TL but at his age unless he really has a good year and with the kids pushing through its quite possible mate.

Our 2021 draftees were all good in the VFL yesterday from reports, and Gibcus was very good also, great signs going forth.

Just get Shedda to 300 games this season and farewell him as the champion he is

Old blokes can have form slumps too.

Plus he got 5 clearances.

I find The eagerness to retire our champs very puzzling

Don't mind Bucks insight's.
Was dreading him but he makes the others look like fools.
Would be brilliant if more ex coaches did some special comments during games instead of the usual gibbering from ex players. The coaches usually have a far greater understanding of team set ups n how the games unfold.

It was paid but he played on
Umpire paid it thirty seconds after it had happened. Shai had no choice but to keep playing the ball as he got no whistle when it happened n then the maggot took half a second to call advantage coz Shai was still playing the ball.
There's a few occasions where the maggots spend thirty seconds or so thinking about whether or not to pay us the obvious free kick n then simply just *smile* us over because they can n they know they'll send us fans ape *smile* which of course adds more to the theatre of television.

Who the hell is playing with the lights.
Oh come on. It's all part of the theatre n entertainment package for when the game gets boring n people start looking at the glow screens of their phones. Get with the excitement of some strobe action n pretend your out clubbing.

Just been watching some highlights of the game, and I am starting to think that Bailey Smith was BOG for us.

Amazing how many goals we scored from him being involved in a turnover tonight.
He is a top runner but like any other kid can make mistakes.
He just had one of those nights.
Cotchin out played him on the wing.
I rather have him then Flappers

JUH been towelled up by a 3 gamer.
Pretty sure Bugle Hangin is all of a 10 gamer himself so not really much of a distinction. Fourth round selection pick 63 fringie flogs number 1 pick superstar, now that's a far more appropriate call.

Don’t get carried away. Dogs kicked away a win
True, but at least we've started playing to the system n work rate that saw us so successful for four years. Keep playing the games our way, hopefully get some form for a couple of our older blokes n get on top of our early injury issues and we're a good chance to go deep again this season.

So on current form which is very poor we’re supposed to gift Shedda 15 games just to get him to 300
What about playing players that are in form that help us to win games instead of just playing players to cater for their egos?
If any player doesn’t deserve a spot in the side they should try to regain form thru the VFL

ditto. it's a tough equation, but what they bring in experience and know-how is priceless. look at Thomson Dow and what he's learning being around them. You can see Sheds influence clearly.

I have a suspicion that if the umpires miss an obvious free they are told in their earpiece, hence the delayed call. This seems to happen a lot nowadays. Maybe I’m just a conspiracy theorist?

Our worst six players according to SC points: Parker, Edwards, Cotchin, Gibcus, Graham, Miller. Surely that is a good sign.
Hate useless irrelevance like SC points, it's all about stat gathering n pretty numbers.
Bloke called Grimes hardly ever used to score any points, playing as a negating shut down defender, but he'd give his opponents a flogging nearly every game.
Played a *smile* load of finals n won three flags fairly recently while being pretty much the lowest overall possession side in the comp the whole time.

I’m with KK. Grateful for the win but it was a papering over the cracks win. Our defensive running and positioning was off all night, allowing them way too much space, often inside 50. That was the biggest concern for me, particularly some of the senior players watching it happen. The two 50’s were the game changer, nice to be on the right end of them for once but guilty pleasures.

I thought Parker and castagna were very very poor and Edwards, kmac, graham vanilla. I still struggle with watching bullies players throw the ball and stage for 4 quarters while stand rule is the only one that seems to matter to the umps. Concerning lack of enthusiasm from some players and systems breaking down or not adhered to. I hope we don’t get too cocky and start doing the hard yards.

Can't remember the Richmond player who got the 50 from the stand rule, but it was a blatant case of feigning a handpass and then pointing to the player who moved. The Footscray player just dropped his head, knew he had been played, but what a ridiculous situation.
Prestygiaocomo on Naughton. Absolutely hate the pathetic rule but poor Naughton's reaction was a leg wetter.
