Season defining Tiges v Dogs - Game Day Thread

Oh come on. It's all part of the theatre n entertainment package for when the game gets boring n people start looking at the glow screens of their phones. Get with the excitement of some strobe action n pretend your out clubbing.
I was cutting shapes with all the others.

Is the AFL hiding poor crowd numbers? I don't remember seeing it on the scoreboard, or hearing it on the commentary (radio and TV) and it's not listed in the AFL's match report.

It was a poor crowd.

I was thinking the same thing. Crowds have been terrible. Is it a Covid thing? Probably. Or are people fed up with the game?

I have a suspicion that if the umpires miss an obvious free they are told in their earpiece, hence the delayed call. This seems to happen a lot nowadays. Maybe I’m just a conspiracy theorist?
Agree with your thoughts
IMO umps are being directed when to give free thru their earpiece

Not sure Balta appreciated Jack being back.

Jack can't jump, there were 3 or 4 occassions I thought Jack has this and each time he barely got off the ground. His smarts are getting him through.

The crowd number was put up on the screen around a few minutes to go in the last
43,000 ? Wonder if they threw in a few thousand to boost numbers
Crowd looked nothing more than low 30s

I have missed 2 games I would usually attend. And not too fussed about it. The stand rule has changed the fundamental look of the game and created enormous frustration for my love for the game.

Was interested to hear carey mention the impact of the rule on us - he said we were the team it had impacted most. First time I can recall a commentator mentioning it during a game. I reckon there is a great dislike of the rule amongst commentators but they are forbidden from calling it out. Think the dam wall will break at some point.

Bevo was happy with the umpires (25-15 - who wouldn't be) other than the mistake made on one of the 50's. The ump got it wrong according to Bevo but that's OK it didn't influence the result.

Agree, MD.

Also wish the dam wall will hurry up and break for things like -
Shovekins pushes in the back
Doggies throwing the ball
Standards of umpiring - couldn't help but feel that there were two sets of rules last night. Gee the Doggies get some soft frees.

I reckon it's both Aces.

neauroplasticisty being what it is, it was inevitable we got some society wide behavioural change out of Covid.

and The AFL's :vomit, cynical, unaccountable, contempt for fans being what it is,

it was inevitable people stop paying for tickets

Bevo and Bulldogs fans can take some solace in Bailey-Smith leading the average AFL fantasy points per game

For all his faults as a commentator, Carey is one of the few who will buck the AFL trend and openly speak his mind about the umpires and the rules.

Watching the game I thought ‘gee we have so many deficiencies’.

But I wake up this morning and we’re 2-2 having just beaten last year’s grand finalist.

Titch getting games under the belt, Jack benefiting from being the third tall, Lynch looking dangerous, Dow improving, Miller belonging, the back six holding without Grimes and Vlastuin, Prestia getting through, Rioli rebirthing, Shorty dissecting.

Oh, and Marlion owning his wing yet again in a graceful display of artful brutality.

Yeah, life ain’t so bad.
