Once again - Matt was offered a contract and chose not to take it.
It wasn't a good or fair offer, whether in dollars or years. He had just been awarded RFC's most improved player and franked that at PA. Don't you think it's a competitive business and you have to offer close to the best offer of your competitors. You think they weren't coming for Rance (where we were lucky as he chose to stay with us for probably a lower offer). I think in White's case, PA offered more years, means you know you have more of a future ... security. He wasn't valued right is my point, and we've paid heavily for it since in the ways I referred to, and the most valuable way of all - lost games!!!

Rimau35 isn't back under a new username is he?
I have no idea who Rimau35 is, BTW. I have my own identity and it's got nothing to do with whoever this dude is. I am a lifelong Richmond supporter who has followed this site for years, largely for interest and fun, without posting much until lately when I decided I'd have my say. Partly just due to having the time. However, my first, isolated post was way back when Matt White was lost to the club, because I was furious about it and still am. Someone thought I was a troll because I really attacked this decision and I think this post was deleted or something. That's another reason I backed off for a long time, until recently. No idea how the rookie stuff (for PRE) works; assume it's linked to how many posts you've made, or whatever, but I'm not young and have followed Tigers for over 50 years. I know the game and have been involved in it until recent years in U18s - managing, assistant coaching etc.
I simply raised this matter again because of all the attacks on our developing players here, for how crap they are - Gordon, Morris, Lloyd , Lambert etc. - according to many posters. Small forward is a really tough role; great ones like Eddie B. are hard to find - there's another one Blues did not value. My point is simply we had a guy who could run through the midfield plus was a dangerous SF with superb goal-kicking abilities, developed and persevered with him through injury etc., and just when he hit his straps, let him waltz out because Hinkley recognized his value much more than our coaching team did. And I bet they regret it now. Dimma was very sheepish about White when it was raised late 2014. Anyway, spilt milk ...

Matt White - A History Re-Written.
Have we re-written history with a better replacement? Try this for historical facts: in 2014 when no significant injury, 22 games and 25 goals. So who have we got that beats that, aside from pure, elite mids like Martin and Cotchin. I'm only talking about a small forward. White could burn through the midfield in bursts with his pace too, as a bonus. But, never mind, we've got tons of pace and goal-scoring SFs currently. Unfortunately we had to draft a raft of kids to give us that but will take another year or two.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

White had one good season with us after I don't know how many. From all accounts the cash p.a. was the same but port offered 3 years. So we valued him the same, but wanted to take it a year at a time.

Matt chose Port. That's his right and perogative. Good luck to him. But let's not re-invent what transpired.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

One of the reasons Matty only had one good season is the same reason he left us is Dimma undervalued what he offered Richmond.

His speed and endurance was unique at the club but Dimma didn't value speed so Matty had very few opportunities pre 2013. To bag out his previous seasons with out taking into consideration the fact that the head coach undervalued him over a long period of time is flawed logic.

This is the wrong thread champ

But I agree with everything you say.

I'm a Matty white fan.

Why not? He was Hard fast, and richmond born and bred. I miss him.
He'd be in my first 22 at richmond

Only rimau knows for sure what dimma had to do with mattys departure.
Maybe Matty said something to offend someone. I have no idea.

But he's welcome back from my POV.

Anyway, this thread is for lloyd

Pretty sure dollars p.a. were similar it was the length of the contract that was the issue. I think they probably regret letting him go now but he is not the difference between success and failure.
