It wasn't a good or fair offer, whether in dollars or years. He had just been awarded RFC's most improved player and franked that at PA. Don't you think it's a competitive business and you have to offer close to the best offer of your competitors. You think they weren't coming for Rance (where we were lucky as he chose to stay with us for probably a lower offer). I think in White's case, PA offered more years, means you know you have more of a future ... security. He wasn't valued right is my point, and we've paid heavily for it since in the ways I referred to, and the most valuable way of all - lost games!!!antman said:Once again - Matt was offered a contract and chose not to take it.
I have no idea who Rimau35 is, BTW. I have my own identity and it's got nothing to do with whoever this dude is. I am a lifelong Richmond supporter who has followed this site for years, largely for interest and fun, without posting much until lately when I decided I'd have my say. Partly just due to having the time. However, my first, isolated post was way back when Matt White was lost to the club, because I was furious about it and still am. Someone thought I was a troll because I really attacked this decision and I think this post was deleted or something. That's another reason I backed off for a long time, until recently. No idea how the rookie stuff (for PRE) works; assume it's linked to how many posts you've made, or whatever, but I'm not young and have followed Tigers for over 50 years. I know the game and have been involved in it until recent years in U18s - managing, assistant coaching etc.T-Shirt Tommy said:Rimau35 isn't back under a new username is he?
Have we re-written history with a better replacement? Try this for historical facts: in 2014 when no significant injury, 22 games and 25 goals. So who have we got that beats that, aside from pure, elite mids like Martin and Cotchin. I'm only talking about a small forward. White could burn through the midfield in bursts with his pace too, as a bonus. But, never mind, we've got tons of pace and goal-scoring SFs currently. Unfortunately we had to draft a raft of kids to give us that but will take another year or two.Midsy said:Matt White - A History Re-Written.

I simply raised this matter again because of all the attacks on our developing players here, for how crap they are - Gordon, Morris, Lloyd , Lambert etc. - according to many posters. Small forward is a really tough role; great ones like Eddie B. are hard to find - there's another one Blues did not value. My point is simply we had a guy who could run through the midfield plus was a dangerous SF with superb goal-kicking abilities, developed and persevered with him through injury etc., and just when he hit his straps, let him waltz out because Hinkley recognized his value much more than our coaching team did. And I bet they regret it now. Dimma was very sheepish about White when it was raised late 2014. Anyway, spilt milk ...
