Sam Lloyd

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

I'm sorry I saw fumbling like I'd rarely seen before from most of our players. We couldn't handle the conditions. Not sure who's fault that is but Melbourne did play the same conditions the week before and obviously adjusted accordingly. Again yeah Lloyd's game wasn't good overall, too much fumbling in the 2nd half but a massive and over reaction from many. Worst game they've ever seen blah blah.

When you are a "natural footballer" and not blessed with the genetic makeup of your opponents, nor apply any physical pressure you can not fumble the ball like that on a wet night.
Very, very surprising and extremely concerning. I knew he would not get much of the ball but just expected him to be clean when he got it because that is all he has going for him at this level. That is the type of game that can quickly end a career. The biggest thing he has going for him is we may have the worst small forward stocks in the last decade of any club list. Maybe Nathan Foley can join Matty Arnott as our whippy attacking small forwards :help.

Summed it up perfectly. We need to again look at getting some quick types that like a goal. A 22 year old Jake King would be nice. Or we can just clone Shane Edwards.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Too busy flipping the bird to cameramen at training she he should be adjusting his attitude and focussing on his game. Appalling footballer.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Terrible, terrible game.

As others have said, the amount he fumbled the footy was amazing.

Stamped his papers IMO.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

I've been a critic an still don't believe his a premiership player, however I believe he deserves to maintain his spot, for the next few tough games, he is what he is, problem is we need a speedy small crumber, most important thing to add to our forward line other then talent

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Yep Scoops boy has to be a bloody good option now, small crumbers can impact at any age so let's get Shorty

Awful. Struggled in the wet.
Given his background playing at lower levels, you thought the conditions might have suited him. I've never been totally sold on Lloyd. He's a journeyman footballer and we would have been better served by using the pick on a youngster and developing him. Lloyd will have the occasional good game, but he's not and never has been consistent and he's not a long term answer to anything.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Another player we recruited from 'left feild' to look like we were innovators on draft day.
Serious questions need to be asked about the recruiting department.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Just watching Sammy in the VFL game v Footscray.

Seriously if Sammy got given 12 consecutive games at 80% game time he would embarrass Steve Morris's pathetic output IMO. Same for Gordon, McDonough, Lennon......

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

This guy is a lemon. Apart from the gimme goal he stuffed every possession he had. Missed an absolute soda in the 3rd quarter and also should have nailed a reasonably simple chance in the last quarter. He was extremely costly tonight.

That 2013 draft is a disaster. 3 picks only including 2 in Lloyd and Gordon who are VFL standard and that's it.

Both of them should stay in the VFL and be delisted at year's end.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Thought after the first two shocking disposals Lloyd actually played very well. Got himself into the right positions, held the ball when he needed to before giving it off, and showed a lot more than Gordon or Morris do. Would he get a game if a Knights or Edwards was available or we had another gun midget, no probably not, but as our list stands he's the best option currently I think.

Being sub was the error.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Kicks the goal in the last and we are 3 goals up.

Doesn't and it goes down the other end for a Freo goal.

Story of the night. We miss em they kick em

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Have to say that's not the case yeah would have helped but the umpiring was shocking and Houil kick out was game over maybe go to the game next time

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Don't know what to make of his performance. And I'm a fan.

Got the ball often enough in dangerous spaces but butchered it. Knows how to get the ball in the forward 50, needs to make them count to keep his spot. If he had started on the ground, he could have potentially had 2 or 3 goals.
