Juffaricho said:As good as Sammy was offensively in the first half when we had the run of play and the ball was kicked to him he was absolutely HORRIBLE DEFENSIVELY in the 2nd half.
His opponent literally ran away from him numerous times to set up their run and carry overlaps.
Today you saw exactly WHY he should be playing AFL and exactly WHY NOT depending on what you value.
He has got ALL the tools to be an effective offensive forward but is so far off defensively it is a joke.
That being said, it is nice to know that if he gets super fit in the offseason and can improve his defensive side dramatically just to not be a liability then we have a player.

GEDS1 said:Interesting situation this one is.
Gordon has the runs on the board after last season and he is quite physcial can Lloyd match that ? Can Lloyd run all day like Gordon ? Can Gordon kick "bags" of goals like Lloyd ?
Lloyd also has a trick we haven't seen yet and that is he can take massive hangers.
Morris can run all day and is physcial but cannot do any of the other things which begs the question why the heck would he play forward. Both Lloyd and Gordon are more dangerous as forwards and it is easier to teach chase than goal sense.
Maradona is another thing all together as he is not physical, cannot run, can kick apparently but not a high flyer this leaves him trailling the others.
So in order I reckon it should Lloyd, closely followed by Gordon, fair distance (due to development) McDonut and then another kilometre or so back is Morris.
The way it will pan out is Morris - lock, Gordon - lock, Lloyd emergency and Mcdonuts VFL.

He performed well against a few of the better sides in the comp with a limited fitness base.
Now that this has improved, I think he'll surprise a few.

Reckon he'll be a lock for small/medium forward ahead of Morris, Gordon and Plugger pretty quickly this year.
