Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

As a ND selection he automatically gets two years anyway so we'll see what he can bring next year. Was putrid last night.

....Unfortunately for Sammy every single coach and selection committee know how critical it (defensive pressure) is so if he doesn't improve it drastically he will not stay in the AFL for long because as soon as he has a 2 weeks spell where he does not hit the scoreboard he will be the first one dropped. I'm not trying to sound dramatic but he was horrific defensively in that 2nd half and the coaching staff will have a field day at some of his efforts in the review.

Well, it's been 2 weeks of no scoreboard impact. It will be interesting to see if he is dropped because if he plays and the Bombers play Winderlich on him in an attempt to exploit his lack of defensive pressure... :help

That beings said, he is capable of snagging a few in a big game.... gutsy choice to keep him in but a risk that could prove to be inspiring. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out.

Cant possibly play him on a wing and a prayer - not on his last 2 weeks.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

The gap between his best and his worst is massive. Hopefully an increase in fitness, irons out the anonymous games.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

absent yesterday - give Matty McD a go.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Subbed out 2 weeks in a row, has hardly touched it in either game. At present only capable of playing in the seniors for short periods of time. May improve with another pre season. If he stays in the side should be the sub.

He seems to be playing as the third tall role ATM. A role he simply isn't big enough to play.

For mine he is one of many Tigers who needs a massive pre season. He hasn't much time but needs to drop 5 kegs and develop an afl standard tank. He will never have top end speed so he heeds to be able to out work blokes.

Once he is able to do that his football smarts could become a real weapon.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Has been given a chance, sad to say hasn't done enough to hold his spot, good depth player, back to the VFL please.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

The Slammer can play, but it was telling on a day we saluted Jake King just how easily GWS ran the ball out of defence. All day. Easily.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

He's clever, but does need another pre season to build a fitness base. Will never be quick and that limits him badly.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Got Gordon covered on today's display. *smile* all over Morris as well (not that that's saying a lot). If he can snag a couple next week and keep the intensity up, should play a bit this year.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Yes, i am pleased for him too. That half could have elevated him for round 1 and set his season up for a big year.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Yep knows exactly where the goal is, seems to be a bit bigger and fitter as well this year. You just look at him and wish he was a bit quicker, if he had a bit more speed you would think the guy would be a gun as a small forward, he seems to have pretty much everything else but that extra speed. He was marking really well also today which was good to see.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Love the fact his a sharp shooter an he grabbed his opportunity unlike Gordon, however jury is still out for me, due to lack of leg speed dosent seem to offer enough in defensive pressure an has had too many no impact games.....good step in the right direction today thou
